Hey folks, someone in my D&D group is trying to make an Archfey(fairy specific) Archfiend Hybrid race. Half and half sorta thing. I've looked everywhere and I can't seem to find anything about it. Is there already a race like that or is this something completely new?
Yeah, that is completely new. I don't think that playing an ARCH fey or fiend is a good idea for the player, the group, or the game. A hybrid makes it even more problematic. You can probably check it out in the homebrew section, but those are either underpowered, busted, or not working. I doubt you can find an effective alternative. Unless the campaign is starting above 15th level you need to quench unhealthy expectations of power levels. Realizing how weak low level characters are can be tough for first timers who want to be the "main character" of the group. If you can't persuade them to just roleplay a tiefling or faerie, here are my suggestions:
Creature Type. Fiend/fey/humanoid. (See multi type creatures. If an effect works on one type, it works on all. For example, protection from evil and good would effect this PC)
Ability Score Increase. +1 Wisdom, +2 Charisma.
Alignment. Depends on the fiend parent. Fey tend to be chaotic good, but demons/devils have different alignments.
Size. Your size is medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 ft.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Flight. You have a flying speed of 30 feet. To use this speed, you can’t be wearing medium or heavy armor.
Fiend/Fey Magic. You know fire bolt and druidcraft, and can cast them at will. Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast the charm person spell once per day. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write in Common, Sylvan, and the Language for the fiend parent (Abyssal if demon, Infernal if devil.)
Know that I think that the best choice would be just using tiefling. This could get out of hand quickly, so don't hesitate to shoot your player's dreams down for the sake of the game.
In previous editions, this was called a "fey'ri". Basically, a half elf-half tiefling hybrid. There are a number of homebrewed versions of this on this site.
