This is the first spell I've created in a campaign. I published it here and would love to get some feedback, I haven't put it to use yet but my character is part of a party of 6 facing an army of 40 in our next session so I plan to see it get some play. My wizard character is playing more of a utility role with minimal attack spells and primarily party support spells. I'll either use this to stand up a barrier with some arrow slits, or perhaps encumber the leader of the army.
If there's anything I can suggest for homebrew spells, try to find one that connects with the spell you're wishing to cast.
In the case of Muggler's Dwarven Wall, I'd suggest taking a look at Wall of Stone, a 5th level evocation spell, and Wall of Ice, a 6th level evocation spell.
Now, if there's a few suggestions I can make: This spell is much too powerful for 2nd level, as it surpasses the need for many other spells of that level, and even of higher levels. For example, why would you use the 2nd level spider climb five times on your party to scale a 30-foot high ledge when you could simply make a staircase ascending up with a single casting? Due to it's similarity to Wall of Stone and Ice, I'd suggest changing it to 5th level. Another thing, the wording of the spell seems a bit confusing at, "large creatures attacking it can topple 4 stones per turn, medium creatures can topple 2 stones per turn, small creatures cannot topple it. Large and medium creatures passing an intelligence check can dismantle the formation at double the rate per turn if the are not attacked and spend their turn carefully dismantling it". Does a creature use it's action to topple stones? Can it still use it's bonus/re/move actions? What is the DC for the Intelligence check? Can a creature make the check as an action?
However, though there are things that could use improving, there are two major parts of this spell that caught my attention. The spell says that it's duration is 10 minutes unless the caster concentrates on it, which then the duration is 1 hour with concentration. I very much like this concept, but I do have a few questions: Does the caster choose whether is has concentration on the spell at the initial casting? Can a creature regain concentration on the spell? What would that entail?
Another thing I like about this is how the spell can be modified based on a creatures race. This a a unique idea, and the implementation if it without overpowering the spell or fundamentally changing it is very good, and I hope to see more of this in the future, maybe applying to a creature's race or class?
