Alright critters and geniuses alike, I'm having a very tiny issue with making the Way of the Cobalt Soul. More specifically, the Mystical Erudition section of the class. I'm going off the updated version Matthew put out after the initial release of the Tal'dorei Campaign Guide.
With the updated version of the subclass, the player gets to choose a language and a proficiency to either Arcana, History, Nature, or Religion at level 3, 11, and 17. If the player already has the proficiency with those skills, they can choose to be double proficient in said skills.
That being said, HOW DO I ALLOW THAT IN THE SUBCLASS CREATION? I've tried just about everything. If Marisha could have it available on her sheet for Critical Role, then there's gotta be something I'm missing. Granted, this is my first subclass I've personally tried to put into D&D Beyond.
Okay, there is no easy way to do this. Looking through other subclasses that award proficiencies, they do it through the add a modifier option, but that requires a Modifier Subtype option in the back end for Cobalt Soul that does not exist.
So here is a workaround. First I had to split Mystical Erudition into two class features one for the language and one for the skill. Otherwise you could pick multiple skills instead of a language at the different levels. Class Features
I added the skill options into the Class Feature options. You need to create an option for each choice. Mystical Erudition
Once the options are created then you can add a modifier to the options. Language - choose a language, Proficiency - (*skill*), Expertise - (*skill*)
This has a couple of limitations, proficiency options will still show up if you gained that proficiency from another source (This is currently a problem with some base classes). There is no way to stop picking an expertise at level 11 even if the character does not have the required proficiency (I couldn't figure out how add a prerequisite).
It's not pretty but it was the best I could do within the current system. If anyone reading this knows a better way to do this please let us know.
Let me know if you have additional questions, or if the links to the pictures didn't work.
Because Way of the Cobalt Soul was originally printed in the Green Ronin Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting copyright laws prohibit it from being on Dnd Beyond. Dnd Beyond would need to come to an arrangement with Green Ronin first.
Also, Marisha might have just used the customize feature on the character sheet to get the desired effect rather than Matt having put all the details in as class features

That's interesting. I've never thought about doing that

I am having the same problem at the moment... I'de appreciate every help :)

I assume Matt has done this homebrew himself so Marisha can use it on DDB? It would be great if he could share it with the masses...

he has changed it a lot since then ... but yes it is a Green Ronin subclass.
Also, Marisha might have just used the customize feature on the character sheet to get the desired effect rather than Matt having put all the details in as class features
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
