So I’m running the campaign Historia for my friends. For those not familiar, it’s an anthropomorphic campaign in a renaissance Italian setting. Issue here is, no mounts considering all the animals/birds are the races. I’d like to add unique mounts if I could, currently taking some of Leonardo Da Vinci’s concepts (Glider, Helicopter, Tank, etc…)
Anyone have additional ideas or input? Mounts that are not animals, but fit in a Renaissance setting… Thank you!
How about Clockwork creatures? There were some pretty complex clockwork robots I think in Renaissance-y times. There is also all the steampunk stuff. Or what about bicycles? Weren't bicycles popular in the renaissance - or were they a bit later? Adventurers riding Pennyfarthings would be hilarious.

I was thinking that would be hilarious, and oddly fitting. As for clockwork creatures, I think that sounds great! But how could I do that without it looking like an “animal”?
Use the real things as inspiration. The US military has funded robot "dog" and robot "horse" and robot "cheetah" projects you can borrow ideas from. Or have them look like bugs - e,g, robot/clockwork spiders

YES!!! Clockwork bugs! Perfect

I like your glider idea. But I’m not sure I’ll be of any help considering I have no idea what historia is.
I wanted to put something funny but I couldn’t think of anything.
