Hello! My husband and I want to design a D&D one shot to announce to our close friends that we are pregnant. My husband would be the DM and is designing the dungeon but we aren’t really sure how or when to announce that we are expecting. We tossed around the idea of having puzzles along the way that give them letters or a decoder device for the very last puzzle which would say something about a baby. Our friends have no idea and would be surprised either way but I’d love to keep is secret till the end of the dungeon if possible.
I love this idea! This is an amazing baby reveal plan.We are going to discuss this on our homebrew channel on our Discord and see what we can come up with. I have a half-formed idea that I want to refine with my tribe, but congratulations!!!
Ok, Here's what we came up with. What if you did something with an adventure where there is a misunderstood creature in the mountains. The party thinks it is the antagonist, but it turns out to be in need of assistance. You can save that for the reveal at the end. And it turns out it needs help because it is pregnant and can't go on the quest or whatever to help itself. The creature's name ends up being the real life Mom-to-be's name. That can be the reveal at the end.
If you want to make it sillier and don't do the pregnancy reveal right away, you can have pregnancy related encounters like mutant pickle monsters to go along with the ice-cream and pickle craving. There can be a puzzle where they have to deal with fatigue because of how tired you get when you are pregnant. Maybe a morning sickness monster? Something with a vomit attack? Too much? :P
We'll probably keep going, but hopefully this is something to get you started.
You are to escort somebody making an offering to the rise of a new god in a distant dimension. Along the way, drop hints the distant dimension is our real world. At the end when the offering is finally made on the alter where the spiritual ley lines align letting the mage you're escorting perform the ritual - it reveals the scene of the real world - describe the street you're on, then the house you're in, then the room, then the mother-to-be.
DM: "The gift appears in a flash before the mother..." **takes out a gift - the same one the group have been carrying** -"she smiles and says,"
Mother-To-Be: "Thank you!"

Perhaps an antagonist that’s stealing children? A common enough trope that they might not see a twist coming at the end!
