There is quite a variety to DND classes as there is, but as I recently dived into a new campaign looking for what to play I noticed something missing. There is no real summoning focused class in DND. Now I know it's weird for some people, the idea of Familiars and that sort of thing in general, but I was hoping to make my case, and sort of explain this new pact idea to everyone and gather feedback.
Pact of the Tether/Servant (name undecided)
General Info: Your Patron bestows upon you the power to command portions of their legion. As an action you can summon a Minion who will follow your every command, this can be done a total of twice per day. The Minion stays until its dropped to 0 or dismissed as a bonus action, otherwise it can stay on the plane of existence it was summoned on for 10 hours. The Minion takes a form fitting of the patron this pact is with, (This is left up to more of an interruption and gives a lot of ability to flavor the character. Examples being The Fiend = Devil like creature, or perhaps The Undying a phantom or ghost type being.) While summoned the Warlock can use his action to command Minion.
Possible Innvocations
Arcane Soul: You gain the ability to cast spells through Minion
Become Unbound: Minion now has a fly speed equal to its walk speed
Trade Shift: You swap places with Minion
Clarifications & Closing Statements
Minion would have a set stat block. It’s a medium creature, maybe construct? I don't have that set up for not knowing the balance of this sort of thing. I'm thinking however, for health at least, it has something to do with a set number, plus something to with level, and charisma bonus. Commanding it would also allow you to move it and use its actions. As an aside any excess damage left over from killing it, gets delt to the warlock. I've also tangled with the idea that since Minion is a real entity, it would be able to wield weapons, this is more of a early thought than fleshed out idea however. There is also the idea that it would level with you, getting stronger as the warlock does. Hopefully, this gave anyone reading this at least beginning ideas on the subclass, and I would appreciate any further ideas or anything anyone has to add. Thanks for reading.

This sounds a lot like the pact of the chain. I’m not sure how this is significantly different, enough so that a player might choose it.
Understandable, I do see the comparison, but what this hopes to accomplish is having a commandable minion that actually dish out some damage. I should’ve added that because of the fighting it will be doing, any excess damage past zero gets ported over to you. I have edited it, to include that info.

I think this is actually a great idea and hope that this gets looked into further

You could mimic how HP is done for Atrificer's defender where it is 3x lvl + con of minion + your charisma modifier.
