I relied a bit on Detect Balance (and common sense) when I was designing this, and I'm hoping I'm right that the fire vulnerability balances out some of the better abilities this race gets.
Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated, both on the mechanics/balance and the flavoring, so let me know what you think about it!
Honestly I would drop the damage vulnerability and resistance. Adding a strong trait and a crippling weakness doesn't create balance. In practice, it creates the opposite.
If I had a Burei at my table, every encounter would be a quandary. Do I put my level 4 party up against a Challenge 4 Red Wyrmling, knowing full well that the breath weapon may one-shot the little plant? In theory it works, but in my experience it doesn't help the player to shrug and say "hey you picked that race" when a single Magmin destroys their barbarian.
Dodging the humanoid type in favor of plant is also really strong when it comes up, I don't think it comes up often enough to be a problem.
