Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online for now, Face-to-face when things sort of clear out if you are in the Austin area Experience: Newish. I have DMed for my kids when we can all get together, but I'm certain I am not doing it right. Would love a group that is patient and fun. Location/Timezone: United States CST. I am in the Hill Country, but can easily be available in Cedar Park, Leander, North Austin, etc. Availability: Evenings work best. Any day of the week, maybe after 7PM. Preferred role: Player Game style: I love roleplaying, hack and slash, and casual fun.
A little bit about me. I go by Ez (ee-zee). I am 41. He, him (they/them is good too). Father of four. Half of my kids are in college, the other half in high school. LGBTQ+ friendly (hard not to be, half my children are gay!) I'm a software developer at Amazon, focusing on Android primarily (although I am in talks with AWS to work on the games infrastructure side of things). My office is in The Domain in Austin Texas, very close to Dragon's Lair.
I'm an old-school nerd. My first console was an Atari 2600, the NES my second. D&D was banned at my elementary and middle schools because it was evil! (for real, this was during the "satanic panic" days!) For a while I ran an art project in Austin called Hyrule in Austin where I made elaborate Zelda themed treasure chests filled with art and hid them around the city. I love reading, writing, drawing (art of any sort, really). My sense of humor tends to be sarcastic and self deprecating, although I tone it waaaaay down around people so no one feels uncomfortable. That being said, I am almost entirely unoffendable and very easy going.
Really looking forward to making some friends, spending time with joyful people, doing some nerd stuff. Anyway, I appreciate y'alls time!
Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online for now, Face-to-face in Austin area once everyone in the group is vaccinated and pandemic eases up Experience: Been playing for 1 year in a variety of campaigns. Reasonably conversant in the jargon and rules but also patient with newbies since I was one not too long ago. Location/Timezone: CST. I live in north central Austin. Available to meet in-person in greater Austin area. Availability: Evenings after 7 PM. Strongly prefer weekends. Preferred role: Player Game style: I like a good mix of roleplaying and hack and slash. I like homebrew and casual campaigns where I can tailor my character's backstory to the campaign's world.
Hi, Ez. Aaron here. I'm pretty much in the same situation as you as far as what and who I'm looking for. A little bit about me:
I'm a 39-year-old male and have lived in Austin most of my life. Married, no kids (unless you want to count my goofy pitbull mix). I work in accounting in the tech industry and also have a career in music (vocals and keyboards) and freelance accounting consulting work. As someone who is both creative and analytical, I love how D&D mixes both of those aspects into its blend of storytelling and adventure.
Over the last year, I've been playing an online homebrew 5E D&D campaign with a group of friends from Austin and elsewhere. Our group has been a lot of fun, but our DM has gotten pretty busy in the last few months, so our group has been mostly on hiatus since the new year. I'm looking for a new group of 3 - 4 players + DM. I'm fine with many different character classes, though I would love to try out a dragonborn paladin/warlock idea that I have. I'd prefer to join a campaign where starting level is 5 or higher since that's where the more fun class features come into play.
Have you found any other players and/or DMs so far?
