Session 3 is over. I'm looking for one additional player to join a group of adventurers that will be striking level 3 at the end of their current encounter. A summary of events:
The three neophytes of an Adventurer's Guild with its base in Sigil has planes walked their way to your homeland, one of the infinite worlds of the prime material plane, looking for a (potentially) radioactive and highly arcane mineral known as Dolomite (uranium - ed.). They're out for this dangerous stone in order to land a one thousand platinum payday from an Arch-Lich known as Cheerwine the Ever-Prolonged, who appears to want to use it as an ant repellent for his credenza boxes of marigolds. The party thus far includes:
A Half-Elf Sorcerer
A Variant Human Fighter
A Water Genasi Life Cleric
Aasmari Paladin - native
Tiefling Sorcerer/Warlock - native
Your world, Dunn, and its largest contingent continent have seen its share of extra-dimensional interlopers: the Devils of the Nine Hells invading thirty years prior and winning by right of conquest a major land bottleneck between the continental north and south; the horrors and boons emanating from His Eminence Marrake al-Sidan al-Hariq ben Lazen, Grand Sultan of the City of Brass, opening a portal from the Elemental Plane of Fire (and never closing the door behind him) as he established (in his infinite benevolence) a colony nation, and forever altering the climate and ecology of the far south as the firestorms raged across the equatorial.
Elves have sequestered themselves to their home island(s) and a single peninsula to the west, the northern Dwarves have seen their kingdom united by marriage into the dominant human political power of the north. A great migration of orcs, goblins, drow, duergars, and deep gnomes from the snow-capped mountains of the far north and into the former Iron Dwarf realms to the west have caused a recent massive shift in power the decade prior, leaving a trail of dwarven and gnome refugees and a Great Other for the humans and dwarves unfettered by their settlements to paint as a target of conquest.
To top it off, an ancient and arrogant Dracolich prepares his undead armies at the borders near the far and icy north, and the mercenary armies of the Dogefell (a collection of combative and xenophobic city states) seek to open up ports and markets by force. It's beginning to feel as though your home cannot catch a break when it comes to world-shaping events. Your mother told you, "we have raised you to be ready for such an interesting age."
So get off the forest floor, pack your sleep roll, and stumble into the clearing where the party is finishing their breakfast. Join us, as the party of Aliens of the Outer Planes & Their Adopted Native Cohorts try to chink some coin into their purse and maybe even save the world from these threats and more, in Dunn.
What We Need:
Please share a character sheet at level 3. PHB races and classes only with exception to the following:
You may multi-class your build, but I enjoy throwing kitchen sink encounters at my enemies players and while I encourage my players to avoid opening up Volo's Guide to Min/Maxing, please consider how best to maximize your utility to the team. We're leveling using the Milestone system.
I want to keep this as new player friendly as possible. We are running RAW and SRB, with a few modifications to the side as we move forward; for now we are playing under the Xanathar's Guide arcana check rule where you can make a DC15+spell level arcana check in battle to determine whether you know what spell was cast by the hostile party. Counter-Charm may be cast as a Bonus Action for Bards.
I would like a ranged DPS type, UA-Variant ranger would be great; bards are fun and always welcome. If you want to don a wizarding hat and bring your nerd-book, I'll be happy as well!
What we're using:
Foundry VTT for the tabletop. Discord for voice and video comms.
When we're doing it:
MONDAYS, 7:30PM CST. Session 4 begins on TUESDAY August 16th, we are moving to Mondays the following week.
Would like to play a rogue (assassin subclass) which would allow me to get in close or shot far away with my bow :D. Race is human, with a reborn lineage (If you permit, Van Ritchen Guide to Ravenloft). Age of my character will be about 10-12 and he will be chaotic nuetral. Time and day works perfectly for me! Hope to hear from you soon!
The idea for the character kind of just popped into my head, but expect a non-typical wizard. Very friendly and fascinated by everything, he can get a little touchy with others, not aware of the concept of personal space.
