Game: D&D 5e
Group type: Online, PBP (play by post)
Experience: veteran (I've DMed for roughly 6 years and played dnd since 3.5 about 10 years ago)
Location/Timezone: I'm in central time, but since this will be pbp it don't really matter what time you're in.
Roles sought: Player (at least 3-4 players)
Game style: Mainly rp with some combat/puzzles.
The world is a homebrew of mine that is an open world campaign, so unless you are in a place that has monsters you won't encounter any. I have a few races of my own available such as beastman, a variant human race, and a couple of 3.5 races I configured to be 5e. The world is based on elements, so you will get to gain abilities based on the element you choose such as fire, water, wood, wind, etc.
I'm not a fan of railroading, so the players will be in control of the flow of the game.
This will be on discord using avrae and dndbeyond if needed. You would be sharing a server with another pbp group I have, but there would only be a couple of channels that you could actually talk to them on if you wanted.

Pbp is a text-based campaign. Instead of doing voice. So, everyone would be able to respond when they can instead of meeting on a specific day and time.
Centaur fighter named Faris, is scared of mice and little rodents, would probably be earth or fire, loves apples, acts tough all the time but doesn't really like to fight. Discord is kurdbird#4788.
would you be willing to change to a different race? I don't have centaurs in my world unless they are from the feywild.

Characters ideas here. I tend to not write back stories until I'm preparing for a campaign.
* Agwe: Water genasi. Druid, focused on water based magics. He speaks (types) with a Jamaican accent. He is laid back, goes with the flow, and likes to joke around. He has no goals or ambitions really, he just wants to live and be happy. He has a love for water and all creatures that dwell within. When angered he can be vicious like a storm.
* Asaka: Earth genasi. Dao Genie Warlock. She is charming, ambitious and greedy. Needless to say she will do anything for coin. She has spent her life as a mercenary and when not adventuring she likes to count her gold in her cave... gold she is collecting for her patron in return for...
I'm happy to come up with other ideas.

I have not done a pbp before that would be new. FYI the text based will likely be a bit difficulty for me - I no write good.
Character idea's I always carry a few in my back pocket. Is it weird that I wait until the character shows their personality in the story before I flush out the backstory?

I am also a big fan of crafting magic items depending on the rules you use for that an artificer. While I would be willing to take a firearm if available. I look at most of the abilities the way they showed in 3.5 Eberron taping into the element sources and using elementals for various effects.
Artificer Battle Smith - gnome, human or Gobblin. Fire-Air
Gnome/Gobblin possibly taking Cavalier and riding the defender into battle!
Super huge fan of the custom lineage If its availed to us... and feats I like them. May change some of these if their allowable. I would also like to look at the home brew allowable races before Lock anything in.
