Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online via roll20 and voice using discord. Experience: New DM and veteran players looking for two or three more players for starting a new campaign. Schedule: Weekly game on Wednesdays, 9 pm - 12 am EST Preferred role: We're looking for two to three more players. We are starting in Dragons of Icespire Peak and then will see where the group would like to go after that adventure is completed. Game style: New players and old hands alike are welcome. Our DM is testing her skills behind the screen and she is supported by a couple of veteran players. We like to focus more on roleplaying and a fun experience than a hack and slash muchkin-style adventure. We have a discord server and a few house rules:
- Free feat at level one
- Using or handing off a health potion is a bonus action, feeding a potion to a downed player is an action
- Casting SENDING at higher levels adds an extra 5 words per higher-level spell slot used. (4th = 30, 5th = 35, 6th = 40 and so on.)
- When rolling for HP upon leveling, you can choose to take the average roll if you roll less than average.
While you're creating/finalizing your characters consider some things: 1. Do you have any kind of existing relationship with anyone else is the party? (for example: related or long time friends) 2. Why are you in Phandalin? Are you part of the settlers that have reclaimed the ruins of the previous settlement and rebuilt the current town? Are you from another part of the land?
We currently have an Assimar Paladin and a Clockwork gnome Sorcerer in the party. Message us with what race/class you'd like to play, how familiar you are with D&D/roll20 and what your favorite flavor of ice cream is. Thanks for stopping by and we look forward to hearing from everyone.
I am thinking of a Gem dragonborn Drakewarden as my race and class. I have been playing D&D since 3rd ed came out, so Iam pretty familiar with D&D and am still learning roll 20. As for My favorite ice Cream goes, I'd have to say Rocky Road comes to mind, and now just like that I have Weird Al's "I Love Rocky Road" in my mind.
My character would be in Phandalin, to look for a way to be stronger, to better protect those who cannot protect themselves. I came here because I was guided by an ancient dragon to come here and learn who I am, which he claims is where my true strength will come from...but really? Is it? As for relationship goes, I am definitely open to the idea of knowing one of the other characters, if not then we can meet by fate.
Edit: Oh and I am very familiar with discord, as I play a lot of PBP on many discord servers.
Hey, I'd like to join if you'll have me. I'd like to play as a goliath fighter, any class really. I've been playing D&D for about five months now and most of the sessions have been on roll20. Favorite flavor of ice cream is vanilla. Discord: UrbanFellow#9532
I'm torn between a Barbarian a cleric and a Bard. Still trying to comeback to D&D after a very long hiatus. Favorite Ice Cream is Magnum Double Sea Salt Caramel. Liall#7636
Hi there! Very interested :) experienced as a DM for about 5-6 years. Mostly a home game that is played biweekly. Roll20 knowledge is experienced basic. Dndbeyond master subscription with most books that I can share.
I would love to join up. My favourite flavour of ice cream is Tiger Tail.
races/class combos(whichever is best for the party once everyone is in)
I've got some interest, as this might work well with putting the kiddos to bed. I've played a fair amount solo (premade modules/campaigns and playing both sides of the table), but essentially never in a group. My preferred character would be:
Human Evoker Wizard, Chaotic Neutral
Favorite flavor of ice cream is mint chocolate chip, but there are so many strong contenders out there...
I'd be mighty interested to join your campaign if you've still got room. I've got some 2 years of experience of dming my own campaigns and I'd like to think I'm familiar enough with roll20/dndbeyond/discord. I'm very flexible with what I role play in the party and I currently have two characters with fleshed out backstories I could use; an Aasimar Way of the Mercy Monk or a Half-elf pact of Archfey Warlock.
And my fave flavor is butter pecan! I look forward to hearing back from you.
Hey there. Many replies already, but I'm interested if you still have room.
I do not have a race/class selected yet. I'd rather know what everyone else is playing first, but I tend to prefer good ol' humans and generalist Rogues (I like to keep most of the fantastical in the hands of the GM so they can reveal it). My draw to your game is the RP focus... and helping out a new GM focused on RP would be a treat!
I've been playing D&D since 1980... and am fairly competent with Roll20.
Favorite ice cream is Pistachio Almond, though Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl is a darn close second!
I see there's a lot of interest already but if you aren't exhausted from reading through these all already, might as well add to the pile.
1. I love love LOVE existing relationships between characters - I find the most awkward part of sessions to be the reason why characters are interacting, and generally hate when we all have to suspend the honest likelihood of our ragtag strangers just working together when an immediate threat isn't forcing them to, and I find pre-existing relationships to be a great help with that. In addition, it's definitely super helpful for me during the creation process to build up characters when I have relationships to help form context for their past.
2. I am not an amazingly experienced player or role-player - I'm an artist with a great love of fantasy and some familiarity with dnd from small sessions (never been above level 6) and watching some dnd content as it's become slightly more mainstream in entertainment over the past few years. So in this vein, I am not familiar with Phandalin or Dragons of Icespire peak. But the good news is I'm very creative and happy to build a character that works for the setting if given some context (especially if another existing character or two is looking for a bond/relationship, I can have my character be informed by their goals and specific needs in Phandalin as well).
3. So firstly I am 100% down to actually fill any niche the party doesn't have filled yet. Being not the most experienced player means I don't approach the game with too many existing biases on what I want. A long time ago I didn't understand how wizards work and shockingly that's changed so I really feel like I could try to tackle any class/combo as needed. To clarify because you obviously haven't had to read through enough at this point -
- I can make any combination of traits work. No class/race combo is too unworkable for me, as long as I can find some creative spin on it I will figure something out. As a note, I am almost completely on the end of the spectrum that focuses on 'fun ideas' over like, 'smart meta' decisions. I think the most meta choice I tend to be drawn to is... well if you're going to be a barbarian how can you not take the bear totem for half damage...
- Personal desires: I can enjoy probably any race except humans and elves and half-elves. No hate on the people who like to play em, they're just a tad boring for my taste (not to say they can't be interesting characters, I just see a ton of 'em all of the time everywhere). I was going to name a top 5 of races I'm super interested in but then I realized I couldn't narrow it down so there you go. A lot of the beastial races, because they're fun, mtg stuff because I'm an mtg nerd, and uhh fairies, because that's new and cool. In terms of class, I have absolutely no attachments, I find every class fun and interesting, and if I have to fill a specific role as long as I get to choose subclass (or between some options of subclass) I'm happy.
- Concepts for this particular group - For the Aasimar Paladin I had a concept for a Divine sorcerer Tiefling a while ago who could probably have a long-standing relationship (in general I prefer positive relationships and when they know each other well enough that there is implicit trust but I can alter stuff around to fit a rivalry or new acquaintance. )
The concept has changed a lot visually but here's a small collection of visuals for her sorry about the twitter link, in an ideal world I could upload art directly but the link image upload is what we work with and when I have multiple images it just feels spammy. And here's a different collection of visuals for her as well, also sorry that it's instagram. I wanted originally to make her a Hexblade who could summon a scythe because its cool and if I'm making a tiefling (which is on par with making a human or elf in terms of popularity probably) then might as well be fully indulgent, right? But I am not attached to her being a warlock and could easily see her being a cleric instead if the party needed some healing coverage. I can say obviously one change is that she'd probably wear some much warmer clothes, something about the phrase "icespire peak" is... making me think her current design might not work. Though! If I remember correctly, I planned for her to be a levistus... bloodline? I think it was a frozen demon? So maybe she's perfectly content in colder climates.
For the clockwork gnome sorcerer I feel like there's room for an artificer friend in there somewhere, I had considered a warforged artificer as a fun little concept, though personally I'm not a big fan of drawing warforged (and drawing the characters does have a pretty big impact on my appreciation of them) though as long as it's okay for the warforged to be somewhat unconventional (say, not just human race shape) then I could probably make something work. Make them especially woody and mossy and I could try a druidic take on them instead. But! That's just an off-the cuff concept.
4. I have used Roll 20 both as a DM and a player a handful of times so after a crunchy period of reacquainting myself since I don't find it amazingly intuitive, I could adjust okay. I have played dnd more than a handful of times but unfortunately not in as involved a way as I would like, and would say while not a greenhorn I'm maybe about average or a little below average. I feel like I'm more familiar with aspects and concepts of dnd than with playing it, if that makes any sense.
5. Favorite icecream might have to be cotton candy and bubble gum together (but only when there's bubble gum bits in it). If I'm feeling crazy (and visually driven) we can toss some funfetti into the mix. Always with a cherry on top.
6. I'm 24, an artist, and am good with any pronouns (though generally she/her is probably the most conventional). In general I don't like evil-aligned characters. I also love concepting chaotic characters but struggle a bit roleplaying them, and I'd probably prefer someone smart enough to occasionally be clever but not so smart that I feel like I need to big-brain some stuff. If I play a bard I will be writing bad rhyming poetry, on the condition you will forgive me for it. I also really really like backstory secrets!! For myself and others. Makes the characters and world feel more 'real'.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I play less dnd than I'd like and listen to more dnd than I should.
