posted a message on [Closed] Online Homebrew Campaign LF Committed Players! Queer and Neurodivergent Friendly!

Hi! My discord is Symmet I would love to chat some more on there! 🩵

I love story-rich worlds and the collaborative story telling that comes from playing with a group. I’m a pretty experienced player, and definitely available for all the listed times (barring some weekday evenings my schedule is also pretty flexible)! I’m really looking for a group of people that I can mesh with and get comfortable playing with as friends, and when I see LGBTQIA and ND friendly games I know that’s a good space with people who share my priorities. I like to draw and yap and try to take decent notes lol. Also find great joy in making sure our group inventory is managed.

As for characters I would like to play, I would probably want to learn more about the lore of the different Clans and what the current party composition is, and what kind of character could fit into the party naturally (I love having preexisting ties to other characters so that it make sense for my characters to integrate naturally into a crew and stick around - especially when the campaign is ongoing before I join so they haven’t necessarily been through everything that the other characters have). I like basically all classes, and I love making new characters, so its a fun puzzle to see what piece will fit best into story. I do love rune themed things though, so there’s a good chance I’d want to find a way to slip that into my backstory/flavor, and I’d love to learn more about the deities of the world as well especially if they’re so heavily incorporated into rests, even if I don’t play a Paladin/cleric/etc I love the depth that can add to a characters history and ideals! 👀

posted a message on A few characters of mine

It's been a long time and I've made more characters since I made this, guess I'll do some small updates.

    Tiabella Rocksalt

Tiabella Rocksalt - Dwarven Artificer who makes porcelain Artillery golems. Her leg is also a porcelain prosthetic. She has a Prismari Background, having studied the arcane arts (emphasis on arts) at a prestigious school of magical craft. She's sculptor and calligrapher by trade.

    Sarsaparilla

Sarsaparilla - A Circle of Shepherd Druid with some clerical persuasions and a warlock invocation courtesy of the Unicorn that has taken her under his horn. STILL WIP character.

    Moxiandra

    Moxiandra aka Moxie

Divine Bloodline Tiefling who wandered away from home in search of her brother one night and found the witchlight carnival instead. Perhaps she would have always stayed there, quiet and meek, if she had not slept amongst a troupe of caravan visitors one night and awoken in the domain of a powerful Vampire...

    a sprinkle of extra art...

    Noxsa Yanara aka Nox

A Sateling (Satyr Tiefling, homebrew) WIP
    The Wolf in Sheeps clothing

He was raised by a secretive order of Bloodhunters under the watch of a mysterious benefactor in the Feywild until such a time as he was ready to leave and work towards the fulfillment of their goals in the mortal realm.

    Daz Vedanja

    Sentyr (Satyr Centaur, Homebrew)

Part of the same mysterious Feywild monastery to the Ravenqueen that Nox was raised in, Daz has studied the intricacies of life and death for all their life.
Death Cleric, Way of Long Death Monk.

    Andromeda (Astral Genasi, Homebrew)
    Astral Monk

    Unnamed - Fae-touched Orc
    Circle of Land Totem Barbarian

Aisling (aka Ash) - Summer Eladrin Path of the Ancestors Barbarian, Celestial? Undying? Warlock

Ais's rage lead to the death of her mother, locking her eternally in Summer as she grapples with it and the need to some day redeem herself. As she wanders the land in search of good deeds, she has discovered the spirits of her Ancestors at her side, granting her new powers and capacities (and mayhaps acting in some part as her patron).

    Bermuda
    Blighted Druid Merfolk

A fish out of water, as the deep cavern that Bermuda's clan once cared for is cursed beyond recognition, killing those who dwell long beneath the dark waves as punishment for the artifact that it was once home to, stolen. Bermuda has left in search of it, hoping to return it and so end the deadly plague.

    Vega Sol WIP

    Lunar Sorcerer...

Enigma, perhaps. A story still being written...

    Valentina, Vampire

Rogueish debonair and wielder of the skeleton key to your heart...

    A Name Lost...

    Owlin WIP
Divination Wizard, Circle of Stars Druid...

posted a message on Looking for more players to join GM's campaign

Hello! I'm a fan of CR, in my mid 20s, CST (an hour behind) and interested - I sent a discord friend request and would be happy to discuss further.

posted a message on New DM looking for players for casual campaign

    1. I can do 7-10pm Thursdays for sure!

    2. I think the 60-40 range leaning towards rp will always be pretty optimal but I don't mind combat so long as we're doing meaningful things in-between, be it narrative or character-based rp.

    3. I think a good DM probably tries to prepare for a session and can adjust alright if things take a turn from prepared material. They take an interest in the characters participating in the world and try to work in themes that might interest or challenge them. Being open and communicative is also super important.

    4. A good player goes into a game with an idea of who their character is but is excited to see who their character can be. They can separate themself from their character and the other players from their characters, and are looking to make friends. They are also able to step back and let other people shine or try to help other characters' stories get told. They don't metagame and don't try to argue their way with the DM. ...And they are open and communicative.

    5. My favorite part of DnD is probably the character creation. I love making a character to fit a role needed by the DM, the party, or that makes sense in the world or potential themes of the campaign. If that's not helpful, I can say for certain I have no interest in playing a human/half-elf/elf. If you want to discuss character stuff on discord I am happy to pull out an existing character concept or make a new one unique to the campaign always.

6.* I'm always happy to help with the campaign - I have some resources I can share as well as all of the sourcebooks on dndbeyond and the heroic tier so I can give access to a campaign hosted on ddbeyond.

posted a message on LFP new-ish homebrew DM wants to get better at dming[18+][LGBTQ+/Ally][creatives/crafters]

Hello! I am an artsy ally and interested. My discord is spookyooky#3333 - I am curious how flexible you’d be with the time frame - I can currently meet for the time decided but I have reason to believe my current job might shift my permanent schedule at some point and it’ll encroach a bit - if I’m a player and integrated into the group by that time, do you think that would be something we could work out?

posted a message on Homebrew Dnd5e campaign!

Hello - I can see you've had a lot of people but in case you're still checking through - I can play Saturday at 8pm EDT without issue, though I work weekends so ideally if the meet time changes we can take my schedule into account ( I can still play for a solid block of time without worry for the next day though, as I am a bit of a nocturnal creature to begin with).

I fit all the demographics that are listed :) and my discord is spookyooky#6438 !!

As a personal note about me - I'm not super into metagaming or when people let their personal knowledge influence what their characters do, though I understand the nature of dnd is unless you're encountering something for the first time it's hard to completely avoid this. I also do art - if the session 0 goes really well and we all seem to mesh (or I mesh at least, because social interactions are nuanced and the internet is not always the best conductor for first interactions) I might be able to do some portrait art of everyone's characters before we start. I would prefer I'm not chosen specifically because of an expectation that I do free art, though.

posted a message on Two open Campaigns

Hello! I have free Thursdays and recently started planning to start getting into online media stuff! I might need some guidance on getting set up (I am looking to invest in camera and mic set up but have been hesitant to commit to choosing one, they all sort of blur together when you've been looking at lists online, so suggestions there would be great).

I would consider myself somewhere in the intermediate level of dnd - familiar but not confident enough to reference stat block info at a moment's notice. I will say I really dislike metagaming, especially when lvl 1 characters are casually talking about things they should have no definitive familiarity with. I have some artistic ability so provided we're all excited and the group meshes well I could be interested in potentially doing some profile art of the characters before we start streaming!

My discord is spookyooky#6438 if you prefer to reach out on there!

posted a message on DM LFG Heavy RP Modules w/some Homebrew

I see there's been a ton of comments, but my Discord is spookyooky#6438 and I'd be really really interested in joining/learning more, especially because of the Tuesday availability.

I am 24 and much more familiar with DnD and similar systems through osmosis but less so through playing (though I've been in a good handful of campaigns that eventually fractured apart, which is why I'm seeking something more stable). I have never experienced any of the modules except for veeery briefly DM'ing some Storm King's Thunder (we didn't even break lvl 2 I don't think) and would really love to start experiencing those when available! I love lovveeee character design/world building. I really value a good mesh between the players/group dynamic as well as a focus on pre-campaign set up (backstory, goals, what drives these characters together and then keeps them that way, heading in the same direction as a cohesive unit) so that'd be something I'd be focused on building my character into - using one or two existing characters to inform the one I make for any campaign I join.

posted a message on Looking for more players for a new Dragons of Icespire Peak campaign - Weekly Game, Wednesdays 9p-12a EST

I see there's a lot of interest already but if you aren't exhausted from reading through these all already, might as well add to the pile.

    1. I love love LOVE existing relationships between characters - I find the most awkward part of sessions to be the reason why characters are interacting, and generally hate when we all have to suspend the honest likelihood of our ragtag strangers just working together when an immediate threat isn't forcing them to, and I find pre-existing relationships to be a great help with that. In addition, it's definitely super helpful for me during the creation process to build up characters when I have relationships to help form context for their past.

    2. I am not an amazingly experienced player or role-player - I'm an artist with a great love of fantasy and some familiarity with dnd from small sessions (never been above level 6) and watching some dnd content as it's become slightly more mainstream in entertainment over the past few years. So in this vein, I am not familiar with Phandalin or Dragons of Icespire peak. But the good news is I'm very creative and happy to build a character that works for the setting if given some context (especially if another existing character or two is looking for a bond/relationship, I can have my character be informed by their goals and specific needs in Phandalin as well).

    3. So firstly I am 100% down to actually fill any niche the party doesn't have filled yet. Being not the most experienced player means I don't approach the game with too many existing biases on what I want. A long time ago I didn't understand how wizards work and shockingly that's changed so I really feel like I could try to tackle any class/combo as needed. To clarify because you obviously haven't had to read through enough at this point -

    - I can make any combination of traits work. No class/race combo is too unworkable for me, as long as I can find some creative spin on it I will figure something out. As a note, I am almost completely on the end of the spectrum that focuses on 'fun ideas' over like, 'smart meta' decisions. I think the most meta choice I tend to be drawn to is... well if you're going to be a barbarian how can you not take the bear totem for half damage...

    - Personal desires: I can enjoy probably any race except humans and elves and half-elves. No hate on the people who like to play em, they're just a tad boring for my taste (not to say they can't be interesting characters, I just see a ton of 'em all of the time everywhere). I was going to name a top 5 of races I'm super interested in but then I realized I couldn't narrow it down so there you go. A lot of the beastial races, because they're fun, mtg stuff because I'm an mtg nerd, and uhh fairies, because that's new and cool. In terms of class, I have absolutely no attachments, I find every class fun and interesting, and if I have to fill a specific role as long as I get to choose subclass (or between some options of subclass) I'm happy.

    - Concepts for this particular group - For the Aasimar Paladin I had a concept for a Divine sorcerer Tiefling a while ago who could probably have a long-standing relationship (in general I prefer positive relationships and when they know each other well enough that there is implicit trust but I can alter stuff around to fit a rivalry or new acquaintance. )

The concept has changed a lot visually but here's a small collection of visuals for her sorry about the twitter link, in an ideal world I could upload art directly but the link image upload is what we work with and when I have multiple images it just feels spammy. And here's a different collection of visuals for her as well, also sorry that it's instagram. I wanted originally to make her a Hexblade who could summon a scythe because its cool and if I'm making a tiefling (which is on par with making a human or elf in terms of popularity probably) then might as well be fully indulgent, right? But I am not attached to her being a warlock and could easily see her being a cleric instead if the party needed some healing coverage. I can say obviously one change is that she'd probably wear some much warmer clothes, something about the phrase "icespire peak" is... making me think her current design might not work. Though! If I remember correctly, I planned for her to be a levistus... bloodline? I think it was a frozen demon? So maybe she's perfectly content in colder climates.

For the clockwork gnome sorcerer I feel like there's room for an artificer friend in there somewhere, I had considered a warforged artificer as a fun little concept, though personally I'm not a big fan of drawing warforged (and drawing the characters does have a pretty big impact on my appreciation of them) though as long as it's okay for the warforged to be somewhat unconventional (say, not just human race shape) then I could probably make something work. Make them especially woody and mossy and I could try a druidic take on them instead. But! That's just an off-the cuff concept.

    4. I have used Roll 20 both as a DM and a player a handful of times so after a crunchy period of reacquainting myself since I don't find it amazingly intuitive, I could adjust okay. I have played dnd more than a handful of times but unfortunately not in as involved a way as I would like, and would say while not a greenhorn I'm maybe about average or a little below average. I feel like I'm more familiar with aspects and concepts of dnd than with playing it, if that makes any sense.

    5. Favorite icecream might have to be cotton candy and bubble gum together (but only when there's bubble gum bits in it). If I'm feeling crazy (and visually driven) we can toss some funfetti into the mix. Always with a cherry on top.

    6. I'm 24, an artist, and am good with any pronouns (though generally she/her is probably the most conventional). In general I don't like evil-aligned characters. I also love concepting chaotic characters but struggle a bit roleplaying them, and I'd probably prefer someone smart enough to occasionally be clever but not so smart that I feel like I need to big-brain some stuff. If I play a bard I will be writing bad rhyming poetry, on the condition you will forgive me for it. I also really really like backstory secrets!! For myself and others. Makes the characters and world feel more 'real'.

posted a message on Experienced DM creating an Online group in PST. Playing Friday OR Saturdays 8:30-11:00pm and using D&D Beyond w/ twitch/VTT

I am curious if this is still open, but I am currently interested in joining a twitch Dnd group. I can make a new character around any specific needs you have for the party/any sort of hidden plot events that you'd like to build into the campaign for the future. My role playing is not spectacular (it's something I'd love to get better at) but I consider myself very creative and capable of making an interesting character. I am also an artist of passable skill, and the cinematic posts sound really interesting, both to explore the story narratively and maybe showcase visual depictions of major events in the story. I am mainly interested in Twitch for the recording of camaraderie so I can revisit moments and make art of moments I particularly enjoyed or was touched by.

My discord is [ spookyooky#6438 ] if at all you are still looking for someone or might want to keep me in mind for future projects!

posted a message on Request and Vote for New Features for DDB

I have no idea if this has been said, but it would be lovely to have a place beyond the portrait where a full body artwork of your character could be shown. Maybe even a small gallery so you could show off how your character has changed after meeting certain level milestones (lvl 1 and lvl 5 and lvl 10 etc). I know this might not be super important to a lot of users but the users who do invest time/money into their characters would probably really appreciate having more than the portrait and the theme to visually define their characters.

posted a message on Artist looking for Campaign to join. Some interest in Twitch

    Game: D&D 5e
    Group preferred: Online
    Experience: A few years
    Location/Timezone: GMT-6
    Availability: Evenings generally, preferred weekdays
    Preferred role: Player
Game style: Casual or more/Long-term/RP/character growth

So I have a mish-mash of experiences with Dnd, I have played on and off in small campaigns since high school ( I'm 24 now) to varying success, often short-lived. I am a creative who loves to design, plan and draw characters but am uncertain about my in-person roleplaying chops, something I'd love to improve (I figure it's a muscle that strengthens with use). I do not want there to be an expectation that I "owe" art to the group because I am an artist, I would rather that when I do art it's a gift because of naturally enjoying the game and experiences I'm sharing with others.

Currently I'm part of a small group that plays Zweihander, a game that is definitively table-top but not Dnd, and while it has been wonderful because of the regularity with which we've been able to meet up, I've been missing Dnd more and more recently. I'm also on a DnD discord RP server where little one-shots are often run, but I find that the character creation is a little limited for my taste (there is a strict adherence to rules or implied visual rules, like Orcs not having horns), and things are heavily regulated (gold and exp gain, or what items are level-appropriate for your character to gain or use) as well as character growth difficult to achieve (because there is no proper campaign during which development can be meaningfully directed).

[Edit: I have been in a consistent dnd group for about 5 months now, literally joined one the day I posted this, though I am still looking to expand my horizons! End of Edit]

I ran a tiny bit of the Storm King's Thunder campaign before that fell apart, but otherwise have little to no existing experience with Dnd Official campaigns [Edit technically I am now somewhat familiar with Dragon of Icespire Peak End of Edit] I'd love a well-thought out homebrew world or to experience any of the campaigns.

    DM Assistance
I genuinely enjoy world building and plot creation (foreshadowing and plot twists and reveals are all wonderful things, more enjoyable without knowledge of them admittedly but still wonderful nonetheless when pulled off well), and I also enjoy making asset work (NPC sketches and quest items), but don't feel confident with the on-the-fly mental prowess needed as a DM - I'd be happy to bounce ideas with the DM and can of course keep a secret. In an ideal world I can make things without knowing what they're for so I get to enjoy the surprise too, but I know that can't always be an option, and in the instances where I've written stuff for even small one-shots, having a second opinion can be invaluable.

    Twitch
I have relatively little experience with Twitch in general, as well as streaming set-up, but I am willing to invest time, energy, and some money to have proper stuff for myself. I wouldn't consider myself a proper entertainment personality and I'm not looking specifically to make money (If I have to choose between investing in this as a hobby and enjoying it verses investing in this as a business and not, I'd rather enjoy it, though of course making money doing something I enjoy is never a negative) but in terms of core goals, I'm looking to make new friends and capture some of the joy I feel like others have created and shared with me as a viewer. Being able to revisit recorded content for myself is something I'd also like to be able to do, especially to make art (or animatics) of moments I really enjoyed. Ideally there would be an off-stream test run once or twice so the other streamers and I could get a feel for each other and see if I mesh well with the group dynamic before moving forward, if this was something you were looking to work out.
