Greetings fellow adventurer! If you have no clue what FTD is, I recommend watching this video.
P.S. We will be using the other books, so you'll have more choices when it comes to races!
Quick Intro:
I enjoyed 5e and have played it for years. I think it's amazing and I love how much it has grown in popularity. But over time I realized I wanted my own setting to be more Low-Fantasy, and less Meta. Old School Revival was close, but I still liked 5e and wanted to keep the game mostly the same. Well just so happens, Five Torches Deep was made for people like me! And everyone seems really excited to try it.
You will like this system and my campaign if you enjoy:
Being Mentally Engaged: solving puzzles, outwitting npcs, coming up with creative solutions
Low-Fantasy: magic is wild and dangerous, but that doesn't stop people from using it! This makes scrolls and magic items more useful
More Tactical Combat: enemies won't just throw themselves at you, but don't worry it isn't dark souls
Roleplaying: accents don't equal good roleplaying. Our group likes creating a story together, and the game is infinitely more fun that way :)
Oh, and here's a map!
This is a labor of love for me, and I like involving everyone in the creation process!
So if you are interested in journeying with us, take a look at the map and try to come up with an NPC you might find wandering around the world!
It could be anything, just let your imagination run wild. I look forward to seeing what you come up with! My discord is name is Operation Fishbowl, be sure to accept the friend invite if you get one
This sounds like a ton of fun and a good challenge.
NPC: Squib Lif - A halfling theif that lives in a hollow tree deep in the eastern forest. She rarely shows herself, preferring to stay hidden when she isn't foraging or trapping game for food. Squib was alone when her parents were taken by some great beast and was a beggar for a while, struggling with finding a place among strangers before heading into the forest to have a place of her own. She is skilled in poisons, having seen the effects of nearly every species of mushroom and plant in the surrounding forest. She can also remain completely still and silent for hours, learning early on how to avoid monsters that would surely take her like her parents had been.
Heyo, that sounds pretty neat as hell so I'll go for it.
For an NPC, I figure a back alley black market vendor names Green, which is just a Goblin, Kobold, and Grung all in a trench coat, all green skinned and acting as one person but really they're just pretending as a fence. Not a terrible group of people, they just want to be treated with some respect and figured crime was a good way to get it. I imagine helping them start a legit business would be a good way to try and turn them around, or maybe just keep them as a shady contact.
Hello! We are Peter & Nick two semi experienced D&D players with some DM'ing experience who are looking for a chill group to roleplay with. We are both understanding players who will work with our DM to make interesting and fun characters. Our discord names are Smoobis#2906 & TheRedCommander#1349, We are dedicated and will be punctual and communicative.
I have been curious about 5td, but its not something I would usually run.
Npc: Raphael "Raf" Landing Human Variant. Farmer (Barbarian).
Raf grew up in the swamps. He learned from his family to grow crops that take care of themselves potatoes, tubers, melons, pumpkins, squash. Things that would provide food in the lean times or a crop in the fall to sell in a good year. Leaving plenty of time for fishing and hunting. At least thats what Raf will tell you. In reality he's a pretty lazy hunter and fisher, preferring to use traps for animals and trotline fishing for fish. His preferred hobbies being drinking and napping.
That being said the Landing family was a numerous one and not afraid of physical altercation, with other swamp dwellers or each other. Raf knows his way around a bow and can hunt man or beast the ol' fasio'n way when needed. Pretty mean with a knife or dagger as well, preferring one he calls John or Johnny knife with is intact a short-story with handle plate in place of a guard, "Better fer skinnin' gator!"
Good side: Raf can be a guide or just a safe face in a time of trouble. An extra hand in a fight, or someone who can come up with food and drink in the wild. A group may find him wandering to see the sights or after a particular type of alcohol.
Bad side: Raf has developed a taste for hunting g the most dangerous beast. The smarter the better. Using someone else to do the actual work is just like setting traps, even allows for a nap.
I don't know if you are still looking for a player - or starting up another game, but I recently bought 5TD and am looking to play. I'm typically a DM and want to get my hands on a lower fantasy setting.
Hiya I am Juliette, I'm a huge role-play lover and have been a DM for more than 5 years. (5e and Pathfinder Mostly) For a tiny bit of info for me as a person, I study art where I mostly focus on history and creating high fantasy works. As a player, I'm open to any thematics of the campaign and love to be involved as much as possible in things like rp, puzzles, ect while trying not to steal other people's shine everyone is allowed to get their moment. Also one of my biggest pet peeves as a dming is people not showing up or being late so I very much so live by that to try and never miss a session unless it's an emergency. I have some previous character sheets to show you on discord if you are curious I am quite proud of them. If you wanna message me on dnd beyond I'm online most days on discord my tag is Quen#7035 If the campaign is full or you don't want me I still hope it ends up being amazing.
