I managed to find a fun-looking post on the LFG subreddit that ticks most of the boxes of what I look for in homebrew campaigns. The OP is a D&D veteran who wants to make a new group, is struggling to find a DM. I really want this to get off the ground, so I've decided to expand the search to Beyond to look for a Dungeon Master on their behalf. Here's an excerpt from the Reddit post covering what the group is looking for:
Playstyle
Adore roleplay-heavy campaigns with lots of opportunities to grow and develop characters and explore the world.
Lots of attention and detail when creating characters. Backstories, relationships, etc. (the OP said he's guaranteed to fawn over characters like this.)
A combination of serious and lighthearted campaigns which gives everyone a chance to be in the spotlight.
Longer campaigns (I asked how long, and apparently, their games could potentially last 8 hours, though that's an extreme circumstance where everyone loses track of time.)
Preferably taking place on Discord using ToTM and a dice bot (Or physical dice if the DM is okay with that!)
Homebrew is completely on the table, if not encouraged.
And here are the kinds of people they're looking for, both players and DM's:
Experienced or Passionate DM's, preferably beginner-friendly (if the DM doesn't want to teach a new player the game, the OP will happily take up that role should they wish to play.)
Reasonable DM's (There've been incidents with DM's in the past who tried to take control of the game and other people's characters.)
People who love to create and share their characters.
It would be wonderful to make friendships outside of the game, so people open to becoming friends is cool too!
Players both experienced or new to DnD are welcome.
As a personal addendum to the list, although I'm just a player, I'd love to help create the world with the DM if we find one. I might not be cut out for the role of Dungeon Master, but I love world-building and want to offer ideas.
If you're interested in DMing for us, leave a comment with your Discord handle, and I'll pass the message along to Reddit!
EDIT: I haven't heard from the organizer in 4 days, and I'm worried that he gave up on the campaign. I'll let you all know for sure by next week, but don't get your hopes up.
EDIT 2: It's been almost 2 weeks since I've heard from the organizer. If he were still running the campaign, he'd have let me know by now. Sorry to everyone who was interested, but the campaign is cancelled, and this thread is closed.
I've been DMing for roughly 4 years now, I'm more focused on the story aspect and recently have been experimenting with combat, making little puzzles or tactics the enemy may use rather than everyone charges.
I have a Grim Hollow styled world that I've been working on, a Three-Way War tears the land apart between the Nation of Vampires, Dragunity Legion, and the Empire.
It's about to be 5am by the time I post this. I am in MST Mountain Standard Time -7gmt
My main availability is Tuesdays or any time from 7am-Noon Friday-Sunday
We've got a westmarches game in flight: The Age of the Dying Sun. We're always looking for new players. Games usually take place in the evenings, GMT+11. Discord: matic0608#8099
