Hey there. I am an older newbie... Forty-sheesh-almighty! I never played as a kid. Didn't even have an interest, but I have always loved fantasy. I am searching for a group of like minded people out there who want to learn the game, play the game, and have fun. I am willing to take on the role as DM or character. I've never done either, but I do a lot of storytelling as my day job! I am on Pacific Time. Looking for (or to create) a casual online group that would meet up about an hour or two once a week.
Yo! Similar position here. 33 years old but never played until this summer. Two sessions in with a new group of friends and family but it is slow and we don't play often. Trying to fill in the gaps and get more play time in. I know how to play and what not from re-search and watching YouTube groups so I'm not really green, but most of my knowledge is theoretical... I just lack the actual experience. Would love to jump into a campaign with some older(ish) people. Also, I have no issues with someone new DM'ing... As long as it's not me lol... Not my cup of tea (yet, who knows). Let me know, and I have a discord we could use if you would like.
I'd be interested in an "older" player experience. I'm a 42 yo stay at home dad of 4. I gamed the D&D ttrpg back when it was 3.5. I mixed it up with other tt games through the years including Rift and Shadowrun. Was stuck as a perpetual DM for a long while and just want to get back into enjoying the game as a player. If this is something that's a status "go" then I'm definitely for it. My kids can be a nuisance sometimes but that's what a mute button is for. I wouldn't mind gaming late on weekends just to get my D&D fix in. I'm located in Central Texas on Central Time. Open availability as long as it's after kiddie bed time. (8pm any night). Discord name is QUAD-Father#0943
Cool. Sounds like what I am looking for. I actually have a bit of experience with the game. My son played several years ago, and I played a bit with him. I would be willing to take a stab at DM. It is kinda what I enjoy about the game anyway. My goals here are really to just find a group that wants to have some fun and not be too "serious" about it all. My discord is JoshuaRayMagic#8541
Sounds fantastic. We could set this up in either discord or google chat/workplace/hangout (whatever the hell it wants to be called now) based on participant preferences. I would suggest discord as there are multiple "rooms" that you can use instead of just the basic layout of GC. And we would have the benefit of using headsets. I have pdf's of most of the core rulebooks for 5e including Tasha's Cauldron and Xanathor's Guide. So if you need anything just let me know. I also have a fillable PDF for character sheets if you'd be interested.
Nice to meet you, Jason! I have hard copies of Player's Handbook, DM Guide, Monster Manual. Tasha's and Xanathor's seem like they could be helpful. I could certainly put something together with what I have to get a little adventure going. I am thinking 5 seems like a good sized party (including DM). That way, if someone is absent, we still have a quorum. Let me know what you would like to do to move forward. I will keep reaching out to potential players.
Is there opening for another? I'm 36 years and wanting a 2nd group online. Besides Saturday I'm free after 8pm EST. What world was you looking to set up? As for character, I been trying different races and classes out in 5e since I majorly played in 3.5. You can contact me on discord at JBurd83#8355
I am new new to D&D but am willing to learn and try things out if this group is willing and if the time works out. I am on the east coast I have about two hours weekdays and more on the weekends. Hobotiger#6368
Wow! This is great to read and sounds like what I've been looking for. I thought I was the only one interested in jumping into D&D and RPG in my middle ages (51). Seems there are quite a few of us. How is this group going? Are you guys still playing. I don't have a ton of time available to me right now but hoping that by the summer, more will free up. But, I'd be interested in maybe joining some one-shots if you are doing anything like that for a totally newbie. I've never played any RPGs but enjoy board gaming, video games, pinball, sports, etc. (suck at all of them, lol!) I've watched some Critical Role, some twitch streamers and read the Player Manual a few years ago. But, just looking to learn and have some fun and get a better understanding of D&D.
