I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but the link below in massive red letters has a Play by Post game that works pretty differently than normal campaigns. Still normal D&D, but it's not with a group but rather all players are alone (they can meet together if they want) going through quests in an open world game existing entirely in the game thread in that same link below, in large red letters.
