Looking for Two Players for a Bi-Weekly Friday Night Curse of Strahd Campaign

Hey everyone! This is a bit of a delicate situation, so I'm going to be very upfront- I was previously running a campaign that included both of my parents and a few friends of ours. However, my mother passed away last month, a few of the friends left the group, and the game ground to a halt. Now, myself and the three players I have left would like to keep playing together, so I'm starting a new Curse of Strahd campaign with them, but the group is a bit small, so I'm looking for a few new players to join us- preferably two, but anywhere from one to three will work for me. As far as resources, we will be using this site for character sheets, Roll20 as a VTT, and Discord for audio, as well as for staying in touch between sessions.  We are currently debating whether to stay with the 2014 rules or switch to 2024, so if you have a strong preference one way or the other please let me know. Session 0 will either be this coming Friday (the 8th) or in two weeks (the 22nd.) This depends on the availability of all players. Either way, I'm planning on holding voice chat interviews tomorrow today, since that is my day off, although I may leave the ad here longer if I don't have a large applicant pool. If you are interested, please message me with information such as your familiarity with the module, how open you are in terms of characters (is there a specific idea you're set on or are you flexible based on group choices), etc. Also include if you are available tomorrow for a voice call (15-30 minutes maximum) and if so, what time frames you would be available for that. No substantial homebrew, I'm afraid. And with this being a horror campaign, I'm not sure it's the right campaign for someone of your age. I do wish you luck in finding a campaign that is right for you, though!

I played D&D long ago but have been trying to get back into it.  I've been reading up on the rules/species/character classes etc... and now I'm looking for a game to join.

I've not played the Curse of Strahd campaign, but I have heard of it.  As I recall it's a gothic/horror setting.  As such, I'd expect to encounter vampires, ghouls, undead, etc.  Also, I'm guessing there could well be a lot of adult themed type of horror/trauma.  I've been through marriage (still happily married), the birth of three daughters, college, graduate school, and hordes of students.  I'm okay with the gothic horror setting.

I'm good with play different character types/species/classes.  My schedule is wide open.

My condolences for the passing of your mother.  May she live forever in cherished memories of loved ones.

My familiarity with the Curse of Stradh module is limited to what I heard throughout discussions with other player and reading on forums.   I have a general knowledge of the story.  For character selection, it will depend largely on what the party needs.  However,  some interesting idea for that world could be an Asimaar Protector or Scourge from Volo's, maybe a necrotic fairy wizard.  There is a lot of humans in that world I have been told,  so a human necromancer should be fun.
