I've always wanted to try out D&D but haven't had an opportunity to due to work scheduling conflictions. Idk if there's a type of D&D group out there that's text-based and accepting of someone that is brand new to this realm of gaming. But if there is please point me in that direction!
If you’ve been wanting to try D&D but need something that works around a tricky schedule, The Nexus might be exactly what you're looking for. We're an 18+ LGBTQIA+ friendly D&D 5e community based on Discord, and we absolutely welcome brand new players.
We run a Westmarch-style setup where your character explores a variety of worlds from a shared central hub. Most sessions are one-shots, which makes it easy to hop in when you’re available—but we also offer play-by-post (text-based) roleplay and leveling options, which are perfect if you can’t commit to live sessions.
We use 2014 5e rules with all official sources allowed. Characters start at level 3 with a boosted 35 Point Buy, and while there's no level cap, we do cap proficiency bonus at +10 to keep things balanced while encouraging creative multiclassing.
If that sounds like a good fit, check us out on the forum here.
