I actually realized a couple other things I have to fix with the subclass, so once I fix it and fully proofread and test it, I’ll put the link here. There are just a couple things that won’t work with the character builder.
Okay, so here are my ideas for fire-themed subclasses for Jerry stuff:
Artificer: (none)
Barbarian: Path of the Jerry-Fire --or-- Path of Pyromania
Bard: not sure what to call it, maybe College of Arson
Cleric: not sure what to call it, but basically a combination of the themes of Light and/or Forge (specifically, fire) and War (specifically, destruction); Fire Domain?
Druid: (none; you can just reflavor Circle of Wildfire)
Fighter: Bombardier
Monk: Way of the Flaming Fist
Paladin: Oath of Jerry (you basically just swear to spread Jerry-like fiery destruction as much as you can)
Ranger: (none)
Rogue: Arsonist
Sorcerer: Firestorm Soul
Warlock: The Jerry (already made this)
Wizard: Order of Pyromania
So what do you all think? Any ideas for the ones for which I got nothin'?
Just realized that I wasn’t subscribed here! Woops! I’ve been missing out on all sorts of Jerry homebrew! Anyway, the warlock subclass is great, I think it’s awesome. As for the list of potential subclasses….
Some one mentioned Grenader for artificer, that would be neat. The core feature would have to be the Jerry fire bomb spin. The other that I saw mentioned was pyrotechnic, they would focus on creating large flashy explosions, perfect for lighting up the night, or enemies!
The barbarian has some cool ideas, I like path of pyromania more than I like the name of path of Jerry. But they could totally just be the same thing, have some fire resistance, focus on being in the heart of combat and not really caring. They could have a neat “madness” feature, the more damage they take the more damage they deal.
For bard Simone mentioned college of pyrotechnics, which sounds awesome! It matches the bard’s flashy personality and the essence of Jerry pretty well. It would be pretty similar to the artificer one I mentioned. (College of Arson also sounds like so much fun too! That’s what Jerry was doing before he started doing the ascending-to-deity stuff)
Cleric would be cool… it would probably steal some features form war and forge, like you mentioned. I’m not really sure beyond that, maybe having a AOE effect that heals allies and burns enemies? Call it… Burnt Domain? Burning Domain? Fire Domain works too, just a little simple.
Druid doesn’t really need any, you just mentioned it. For that you just say that the reason you have your wildfire magic is from Jerry.
Fighter could be interesting, maybe mainly archery focused? Like when Jerry started with just using bow and arrow? We could definitely call it bombardier, level up enough and you can strap bombs to your flaming arrows!
I feel like monk just needs to be “way of the four elements” but better, and just one element. Jumping around with fiery boosts, sending people flying with a flaming kick, at some point, fiery flight that hurts people that you fly by.
paladin could go many ways, AOE divine smite that deals fire damage, just a basic smite that deals fire damage, (to compensate you would need to eventually grant a way to circumvent resistance and immunity) the aura would be so cool, just a aura of hellfire. It would be awesome!
Ranger is interesting… It’s not completely necessary, but someone mentioned a conclave of wildfire? That sounds pretty cool. Copy what seems to be the main allure of ranger and give the person a pet Mendigo thing, and slap some Druid circle of wildfire features on it and you have yourself a subclass! Or not, this is one that I’m not super duper excited about.
rouge arsonist would be awesome! Leaving puddles a fiery death, sneaking up and bombing something…. Sneak attack would have to apply to structures, to create the ultimate sneaky arsonist! Dunno how that’s going to work…. But who knows! Just some AOE fire stuff that deals extra damage to buildings.
Sorcerer with firestorm soul… ooh. I like it, I believe there is one point in the “your in a room” that Jerry uses magic, without realizing it. It would be awesome if this was that un-stable highly explosive magic. A combo of force, fire, and necrotic damage maybe? Having a unstable energy system that can overfill, or that needs to be vented. Something using the name “sunburst” because I just like it.
The warlock subclass is great! It has some utility, not just purely combat focused. It’s balanced (I think) and it sounds fun to play! I really like it and think that you did a great job.
wizard would be cool too! All of these are great ideas and need subclasses (maybe even a class at some point…?) wizard would be like evolution but more fire focused? Steal some traits from the elemental adept feat. Give a way to get past fire resistance, grant disadvantage on saves for spells like fireball.
And for feats… bomber? Let’s you craft and use s small bombs? Two types, grenades, or leave-a-puddle-on-the-floor napalm. Speed freak? Leaving behind a fiery trail when you dash, increase movement speed. Fiery madness? When you take fire damage you can use your reaction to half it, once per long rest? And you get advantage on your next attack.
These are all just ideas, some things that I think would be cool. Obviously none of my suggestions are good ones, but I felt like I should at least make them. Anyway, sorry for not posting sooner! I thought this thread had died because I wasn’t getting the notifications for it! Turns out I just wasn’t subscribed. Now that I’m here I will be notified every post! And will stay up to date! (That’s why I did such a big post, to compensate for my absence) And lastly, let me just say… wow. I never thought that the impromptu character that I brought to a random forum game would evolve this much. To even have people so dedicated enough to make homebrew! I’m really appreciative and love all of this. Thanks everyone for turning Jerry into one of my favorite characters.
Those are good suggestions, and will help me (at least) be able to better figure out how each subclass should do its stuff based on what its purpose is. I will say that I'm not doing the ranger (though a Mendigo sidekick would be awesome), and I don't feel confident enough in my 'brewing abilities to do an artificer subclass. I also don't know about bard.
Picking a random one to discuss, the Arsonist rogue subclass could get (as its lesser level 3 ability) create bonfire and produce flame. The main level 3 ability could be a couple different types of bomb-type effects, like you said, that deal extra damage to structures. that's fine, i was never hooked on any of those. I like the level three ability, i could see a few different kinds of bombs, grenades do a lot of dame in a smaller area, napalm leaves behind a continuous damage puddle, and maybe a harder to craft chaos bomb. It would essentially mix the grenade and the napalm. ooh, i like the resistance to fire damage, but do you know what would be really scary? having immunity to fire damage that your dealing. like imagine!

Circling back to Ranger, their Conclaves are mostly profession-like in naming (Beast Master, Gloomstalker, Drake Warden) so how about Conclave of the Fire Tamer.
Just checking something, if you wanted to have a spell linked with the purple text, the command would be fireball right? (if this ends up as the text then just so you know I put the command as [spell ] fireball;fireball [/spell ] without the spaces)
I'd take another look at the spells, some of the spells are added to the wrong paladin level, and fire storm is a spell no Paladin can even use (maxes out at lvl 5, and its a lvl 7 spell)
