"Someone tore the entire engine out. Banished it to the Abyss with a spell."
“Now why would someone do a thing like that?” His fishing line bobs and is pulled under water.
"Many found our ship to be... unnatural. Monstrous. We harbored and often served great evils... whether in our diners or on the plates."
“I see. Still seems a shame.” He tugs on the line. The pole jerks and he begins to reel rapidly, pulling in his catch.
"Oh, it was. I've never seen such terror and carnage before. I couldn't do a thing to stop it. I nearly lost my arm." He gestures to his cape. "But that is neither here nor there. You seem to know your way around a fishing rod, even a worthless one such as that."
"That's terrible." He winces as if recollecting a particularly painful memory, "I've felt the pain of amputation before, it ain't fun." He yanks on the pole, "Indeed I do. I come from a town full of fishermen who had plenty of knowledge to share." With one final twist of the pole his catch flies in and lands on the bank. On the end of the hook is a large black boot and flopping around inside is a fat fish. The scarecrow's cloth lips curl up in a smile, "While I'll be. What a perfect example of my luck."
As the town has been growing, new shops have been opening. From cafes to the newer shop opened by a local undead, the capitalist climate of the area around the tavern has never been more diverse. One shop has recently opened on the edge of the town, the sign above the door seeming to catch many townsfolk's eyes. In bright yellow letters on a black background, the words 'The Freak Show' is spelled out, with text under the main title being 'Your one stop shop for all creatures weird and perturbing'
Ede looks over at it and tilts his head, walking into it.
As he walks into the shop, the scent of odd spices fills his nose, and an animated coat hanger offers to take his coat. At a desk a bit further inside, an odd looking elf sits, a wide grin in his face, "Ah, a customer!"
He tilts his head, sniffing the air. (Nature Check to figure out what the spices are: 22).
He smiles "Hello there, like this place so far. Very dark and spooky."
Seems like a mild tranquilizer, but it's currently too light to effect either of them. It mostly causes him to feel slightly tingly
"Why thank you! I put effort into how my customers feel in my store." He says pilitely
*Ede has the Necklace of Adaptation so any airborne poison or vapors don't harm him.*
He chuckles and looks around "What is this place?"
*good to know*
"Well that entirely depends on what you seek" He says, grin growing slightly, "I sell all manner of creature. Normal ones that you might offer to a friend or child. More interesting creatures that can do some rather entertaining things." He then gestures to a room separated by a curtain, "And of course my more exotic selections" He chuckles
"I'm not looking to buy, simply looking into what this place was." He said and lit a blunt, taking a drag. "Why do you sell people?"
"I do not sell 'people', my friend." He tilts his head, "I sell creatures"
"If it thinks about thinking, it's a person. If it simply thinks, it's a creature." He corrected and raised a brow, his smile that is always plastered on his face leaving. His eyes narrow slightly at them.

(Born to a sea demon and the cruel blacksmith who enslaved her, and growing up serving the abusive Wastrilith food that it was never satisfied with, Chef Barbaeu is a strange sort of Demon Lord. His mother continuously corrected and chastised him for his inadequacy. After an unknown event that destroyed the hamlet where they lived, the cambion joined The Gut, a ship powered by a shard of the Abyss. He drew power from it and used it to distort the ship to fit his desires, with many galleys and kitchens. Auguste is a madman and defends his chefs with the fury of a thousand suns. He does not tolerate abuse or degradation, and has an unspeakably violent and powerful side that he keeps hidden until the exact moment he needs it.)

He pulls the fish out of the boot and tosses it on the ground. The crows that clutter the air swoop down and tear it apart with their black beaks. "Now that's an idea. I suppose I could teach someone a thing or two. But would anyone want to learn from a ragged old feller like me?" He takes one of his old mismatched boots off and sticks the hay fluffed stump of his leg in the new one and tests it out. Then he picks up his old boot and flings it out into the lake where it splashes and sinks down to the freshwater mud.

"If you find something that interests you, tell my golems. They're connected to a type of sending stone so I can hear you from any place in the shop that you'd like."
"Chef Auguste Douxchets Barbaeu, at your service."

The chef nods. "Nice catch. The boot won't be much help, though, I don't think. Back on topic, sharing is the best way to show that you care about something. I suggest you pay it forward. Teach someone about fishing someday."

The normal section would come first, though nothing that could be described as a person. Mostly animals like cats, dogs, rabbits, etc. Further inward he find more or ones. A displacer beast kitten, a litter of blink dogs, a nest of phase spiders in an odd terrarium. And finally, is the curtain to the exotic section

A spider crawls on the glass next to his hand before blinking into the ether
Damian walks up to Nainai holding a glass of lemonade "Would you like a drink of lemonade to go with that burrito?"

A man is walking up the path to the tavern. he was a light blue suit and slacks with nice oxford dress shoes. His warm brown eyes survey his surroundings behind thin glasses. His neatly groomed black hair ruffles a bit in the breeze.
