*Eh, I don’t really have fears or things I’m uncomfortable about, I’m just a chill guy really, except for really high places, I don’t vibe with those.*
*Anyway, I've been working on Prospero and his new villain. Prospero's new power is to regenerate using Dark Energy, so while he lacks offensive capabilities, he can stay alive long enough to come up with and execute strategies to take down his foes so long as they're trying to use magic or negative emotions against him.*
*The villain is Elil, the Nightmare Messiah. He is a powerful Nightmare made of Nocturnite, a metal that forms inside Nightmares when they are allowed to experience positive emotions and is used to make Dark Energy generators and Artefacts. He manifests fear of Nightmares themselves, the end times, and God Himself. Ironically, he's not actually that powerful on his own, and being completely physical means anyone can see and harm him with whatever they have on hand. However, he is immune to typical Nightmare weaknesses, can reforge himself between fights, and has a power that Prospero also shares: A mutual love and understanding shared with even the most violent and hateful Nightmares.*

*Certainly interesting, though that doesn’t sound like a villain, and rather someone given a role to follow. A villain born, rather than made, and so not a villain at all. Ironic, but certainly fun to witness and interact with. An interesting power system as well, I do wish I could be something I could take part in, but I don’t have a firm enough understanding.*

*I'm planning on making a thread for it, so I'll write up a dossier eventually. Here are the Basics:
*First: Negative emotions create Dark Energy. Dark Energy becomes Nightmares (weirded out folklore monsters). Each Nightmare forms around an object. If the Nightmare dies, the object is left behind. The more positive emotions the Nightmare felt in its life, the more Nocturnite (magic metal) is infused into the item. Enough Nocturnite makes an item into an Artefact. Artefacts exposed to Dark Energy gain the ability to recall the Nocturne Arte (power) of the Nightmare it used to be. If subsumed in too much Dark Energy, the Nightmare reforms around it slightly stronger than before with all its memories.*
*Second: Mortals have something called Spiritual Sensitivity, ranging from 1(least risk) ot 10(most risk). Dark Energy (negative emotions, remember?) temporarily raises Spiritual Sensitivity. SS is not a good thing, as while it raises your awareness and power when it comes to Dark Energy, Nightmares, and Nocturne Arts, it also raises your vulnerability. If your SS is low enough, you can basically ignore direct attacks and not even see any but the most powerful Nightmares. High enough and you'll become possessed from mere proximity to a puny newborn Nightmare if you don't have an Artefact for protection.*
*So, Nightmares are made of ‘negative energy’, but the highest SS can sense and see these nightmares, and likely best to combat them, but also are at the greatest risk against them. So like how Sorcerers see curses, and normal people can’t, but unlike where normal people aren’t safe, most normal people would be due to lower spiritual sensitivity? Thats interesting, as for characters with high sensitivity, like Prospero, they are capable of manipulating this negative energy, willingly or otherwise. How interesting indeed, I’m getting some ideas.*

*Most people have an SS of 2-4, meaning they can witness and gat hurt by stronger Nightmares, while a weaker one could literally live in your house and you would never know that it was eating your trash and cuddling you and basically saw you as its master/parent figure. Until, of course, a stronger Nightmare or an Exorcist got close, at which point it would fight tooth and nail to protect you. That one would probably drop a potent Artefact since love is considered positive enough to make Nocturnite.*
*Usually, to get your own Nocturne Arte (not co-opting one from a familiar or an Artefact), you'd have to be 8+ SS or be exposed to the Beach, which usually requires high SS to open a door to. Prospero is both, and he's part of a faction called the Dark Hearts, a group who loves Nightmares and believe that intelligent beings shouldn't be killed for power. Basically, Curse Users and Non-Curse Users, along with the Disaster Curses for good measure. Elil is the leader of said faction, being the Nightmare Messiah. He is filled with a deep, passionate love for Nightmares and loathes the actions of humans, although he doesn't hate the humans themselves, instead wishing to transform them into Nightmares through exposure to the Beach.*

*I just read all the lore for Nightmares and the Beach that was posted last page, and oh boy, does it give me ideas for where to take KK once she becomes the Architect of Nightmares. I won't say much, except that it's going to be absolutely horrific and beautiful in equal measure...*
*All in all, I absolutely love the lore so far and how much detail and thought has been put into it. I could easily see someone constructing an entire set of rules for a TTRPG game based on just the snippets I've seen so far, and I would absolutely join a Nightmare-themed thread (and possibly bring KK there).*

*The only issue is I don't know what to put for the first post.*
*I talked with my dad about Elil and the power system, and we've decided that he looks like a normal guy, just like the Terminator. And his only power other than Contractual Boss Immunity is that he's absurdly charismatic. Like, he will talk your weapon into its sheath, or get you to turn it on your allies. He could probably bring Rag to a blind rage without raising a hand against anyone (canonically). He's a literal cult leader too.*

"Can't cut us out with broken knives, so only through each other we are sharp and know that hope survives..."
A man in simple clothes walks down the street, singing to himself. His hair is short and white, and he walks with a cane, but he couldn't be older than 30. Some Exorcists wait to ambush him around the corner.
"I leave a hundred ties to forge another thousand bonds, Listen to our hearts and then have faith of where that sound is from."
He walks directly into their trap, and they open fire. But he doesn't fall. The Exorcists' familiars hesitate to attack. Something is very, very wrong. He raises his voice to be heard over the gunshots.
"Let your doubts be put to rest by how the crowd responds, I am finally here and I shall scream it from the mountaintops!"
The familiars' eyes flash with recognition, and they bow before the man. The Exorcists stop firing as their clips run out. Their Nightmares, once loyal, turn on them, knocking them down and dragging them to the back of the alley, where Prospero stands. He hugs their anger out and disappears as soon as he arrives.
The old-young man heads toward town, a smile on his face that could warm an ice devil's heart. People make way for him and a couple take their hats off. Others turn to run or cower. Some even prepare to fight.
This man is not human. Not even close.
He is the end of days and the return of God. The Rapture for Evil Things. The Damning Hope and the Blessing of Despair.
He is Elil, the Nightmare Messiah.
