As one of the first members of what's basically the OG tavern, I approve of this cult. There are too many different things for my liking, nowadays.

*But what you fail to realize is that THIS IS A TAVERN AS WELL!!!*
*No! Noooo --*
A human walks in and orders an ale. "Well met, traveler!" he calls. "Where do you come from?"

I do think that some, like Twinkling Stars and the Brimstone Tavern, help fill cool niche options that lead to really fun roleplaying. But at this point, we've gone overboard.
Yeah, I agree. There are like, thirty million, now. I think it's cool to have ones that suit your own taste, but I feel like the Adventurer's Tavern plus one or two others was enough.

I think the only real issue with the number of taverns to do with the fact that the sheer number of options mean none of them can get a significant following out community. I'm fine with that for my own tavern, which I made to be a little side thing as a stepped back from Adventurer's Tavern, but it would probably be sensible to work out which threads people have decided to focus on. So a couple of slightly more lively threads can take the forefront.
I can't believe I'm saying this... but perhaps a solution would be a new tavern? Where everyone (at least everyone here) agrees to make it the main thread and join other taverns as they see fit. That way you can get a lively main tavern without stopping other people from making threads as they like.
It's just a suggestion (spur of the moment idea, as of thirty seconds ago), I'm curious to see what people think about it.

Maybe. Or just call TTatEotW the "main" one? That's where everyone's been going until recently. I'd always thought of it as the "main" thread anyways.
The TTatEotW group largely decided to leave that thread and made the Lord's Rest Inn as the informal successor to ToAT in the same way that TTatEotW had been beforehand.
In that case, maybe a new tavern would solve the problem. Hm.
It might just solve itself given time. If that was going to happen though, I think there'd have to be a conversation between current tavern creators and then the various people who used them. The only way my undetailed and quite possibly silly idea would work is if most people agreed to it. And it's still just a vague on the spot suggestion. Someone might point out an inherent problem in the next few minutes.

"What can I get you, bold one?" asks the Kalshtar bartender.

Chilling kinda vibe.

"Orange Juice, you said?" The bartender slides a tall, cold glass of Orange Juice towards you.
You catch it and take a Drink.
A DRINK OF ORANGE JUICE AT THE TAVERN CULT OF TOO MANY TAVERNS.

*But you fail to consider... Tavern is in the name of the thread.*
*You've already opened the cracks in your mind to the Tavern. You're vulnerable. It will come to take you time and time again.*
*Perhaps we'd better make a deal.*
