"Well, I have basic skills in most things that I reckon would be involved in this job, like writing, determination, negotiation, maybe a little magic, and I can hold my own with a sword, but I don't really specialise in any one thing."
"Well, then in that case... you've got the job!" Lilith stands up, visibly ecstatic. "As to what that job is, follow me. I'll lead you over to Gene, and he'll show you the ropes from there."
Ark properly smiles, not just one of his half smiles. "Thank you! I hope to do the best I can here." He stands up, and as he does so, his cloak transforms. It gets tighter, becoming a professional looking suit, fully equipped with a black tie with a blue stripe down the middle which complements his orange eyes, and a white shirt underneath. Now the cloak is gone, you can see he has a rapier in a sheath on the side of his waist.
"Wow, that was fast. Alright, follow me!" Lilith opens the door and leads you down a long hallway, turning right and left as if entirely by chance, with no indication as to where you're going. Then, after a minute or so, you reach an elevator, which opens its doors almost as soon as you lay eyes on it.
"I have a feeling you're really going to like what we have ready for you here."
"I think I might have the same feeling."
You both walk into the elevator, and Lilith presses the absolute lowest button on the terminal inside the elevator, having to crouch down momentarily to press it. Then, with a jolt, the elevator drops, rocketing down the shaft at a remarkable speed, before suddenly stopping all momentum exactly one second later. The doors open again into a hallway filled with bronze piping, with some steel boxes piles up against one of the walls. The sounds of metal clanging, steam shooting out of pipes, and churning machinery echoes faintly from further down the hall.
"Don't worry, we won't be here for long." Lilith walks out of the elevator, her ecstatic mood giving way to a timid caution as she walks down the hall.

I want you to know. You are going to lose. You are going to lose badly. You’re going to lose badly and it’s going to be awesome.
"Well," He chuckles to himself about nothing in particular. "I just got off my break, and I don't have anything to do right now, so I'd be more than happy to do your interview!"
“Alright!” They get up, and their hair goes all weird and tentacle-y for a second, the hair turning black and distorted like squid skin, with eyes momentarily opening and looking around. It goes back to normal.
The old demon doesn't seem to notice, or if they did, they weren't startled by it. They lead you into a little room with a desk in it and two chairs. Another one of those typewriter devices sits on the desk, as well as a little nameplate propped up that reads 'Jeremy G.' The room almost seems like a repurposed broom closet, and it barely has enough space between the desk and the wall for Jeremy to move to the other side of the room and sit down.
"Don't get the wrong impression: I just asked for this room because I like small spaces. Helps me focus. Now," he sits down, repositioning a little photo of something you can't see from where you are. "Let's get to business: What's your name?"
“Lonely.”
"Lonely..." He repeats the name to himself as he types it into the machine. "Okay. Lonely, what job are you hoping to get? Revision Branch? Archiving?"
“Mmmmmmmm… what are my options?”
"Well... umm... let me see." Jeremy opens a filing cabinet in the corner of the room, rummaging through it for a bit before setting down a few papers. He picks them up and starts reading down the list, putting on a pair of half-moon glasses that were in a drawer in his desk.
"There's the Archiving Branch... Maintenance... Ooh, I forgot about that one: Portal Calibration... Contract Revision... Contract Consultant... Accounting..." he continues reading down the list, listing numerous jobs that sound very uninteresting.

After following Lilith for a few minutes through the twisting tunnels of this maze-like floor, you find a large room with an assortment of steam-powered machinery churning away for an unknown purpose. A ghostly figure emerges from behind some turning gears with a wrench in hand. He looks like the spirit of a very old man, with a slight hunch in his back and translucent luminous skin that seems to cling to his nonexistent bones. He looks at the two of you for a moment, before a crooked smile of recognition crosses his face.
"Lil!" The ghost sets down his wrench and walks over to Lilith.
"Gene, my man!" Lilith walks over to him as well, all the previous nervousness she had disappearing. "How's it going?"
"Well, I haven't exploded today! I see that as an absolute win!" The two laugh for a moment.

"Sounds good to me sir." Ark smiles, liking the sound of 'Portal Calibration.'
"Follow me!" Gene and you start walking through the winding passages of this floor. As you proceed deeper into the inner workings of this floor, the temperature steadily rises.
"This floor here's the Furnace. A lot o' the systems upstairs are steam-powered, so we use these here pipes to keep everything on." He taps one of the bronze pipes with his knuckles. "Pretty easy t' boil water when yer in the Underworld. Anywho, the Furnace's also got some machines down here for powerin' portals, and it's up to us at Portal Calibratin' to make sure the Bureau folk in the main buildin' get where they need to go. I'unno how it works, but I've fixed the Calibrator 'nough times to get a basic understandin'."

A young man, maybe about 20-25 years old, can be seen approaching the Bureau. He's wearing a plain white cotton t-shirt, and blue jeans, both with dark, dirty stains. His hair looks like someone scrubbed it with a crusty old mop, as does his face and hands. He looks behind him, then goes inside.
