A girl walks up to him, wearing well tailored dark clothes and practical black boots. She has a leather book in a holster at her side and a large raven on her shoulder. "Um..hi? You wouldn't happen to know if this store sells quills would you?"
*also should the ravens name be Mateo or Edgar, I can't decide*
'I think this place sells everything, so probably quills, yeah. Ya new around here, haven't seen ya before.' The rat seems very interested in the raven
*I'd go Edgar, but it's up to you*

You guys are awesome and mean so much to me. And mean so much to each other.
"Nice to meet you Flint." Lil shakes his hand back, wiping her hand on her pants but not seeming too bothered by the grime. "Nice to meet you too Hi, this is Edgar", gesturing to the raven. Edgar nods in Hi's direction.
'They do? Now I hadn't heard that. Ravens with respect for the dead? Maybe I'm less like a raven than I thought. Used to make a living looting the corpses that ended up in the sewers.'

"Well, it's not like the dead will mind. And I can't say a whole lot, I've raised more than a few corpses and I'd say that's a little more intrusive than pickpocketing."
'Perhaps so. Again, not like they mind, though, is it? Funny how people seem more okay with making corpses than animating or looting them. Surface-dwellers are messed up.'

"Exactly. Animation is more recycling than anything else, why shouldn't death be put to use for good? And as a surface dweller myself I should probably take offence, but it's hard to when you're so right."
'To be fair, I should probably call myself a surface-dweller, but I've spent like 90% of my life living in sewers, so I'm probably still better adapted to underground life. Only moved up there 'cause my wife thought it was a good idea'

"That must have been a very interesting childhood. I can see why your wife wanted you to move though, I can't imagine it's a particularly comfortable existence"
'Oh, it was a good life, thanks to a blessing from an interdimensional being that basically allowed me to survive. Allowed me to talk to rats, made me resistant to disease. And come on, it's quiet, shady, lots of trash to scavenge, what more could ya want? But yeah, Ashleigh said it was no place to raise a kid, and if we were gonna have a family, it'd be better to move to the surface. I don't think she minded living down there, though. You ever lived in any cool places?'

"You've almost sold me on the whole sewer thing, I might have to try it sometime. But I can see how it might be hard to raise a kid in. My parents are both undertakers, so I pretty much grew up in the morgue. Probably not the most child friendly of places either but I found it fascinating, there's so many things you can learn from a corpse."
Flint leads her through numerous winding pipes and tunnels, scuttling through the drains like it was something he'd been doing all his life (because he had). Eventually, they reach a wide tunnel, where filthy matted rugs have been strewn about, a couple of crates, a beat-up sofa, and a skeleton on the floor. A couple of nets are strung across the channel to catch anything that drifts past, and a horrendous smell fills the air, but the sound of running water is strangely pleasing.
'This is Bob' he says, pointing to the skeleton

"Great, thank you. Yeah, I've just got into town." She sticks out her hand awkwardly. "I'm Lilith. What's your name?"
*Edgar it is :)*
'Flint. I run the Wolf and Rat Tavern with my wife. This is my friend Hi' he says pointing to the rat.
He shakes her hand, leaving a slimy greenish-brown stain

Hi nods back
'Hey Edgar!' Flint says. 'Ya know, ravens are one of my favourite birds. Can relate to them.'

Edgars caws happily. "Me too", Lilith says, "and they're very smart. They even have funerals for their dead."

'I can imagine. One of my best friends was a skeleton named Bob. Ya wanna go see him, he's still there?' He lifts up a grille in the floor

"Yeah, absolutely!" She smiles wide, and follows Flint down into the sewer

Lilith looks around, taking in the area. "Nice place, and an even nicer skeleton." Edgar flaps down off her shoulder to inspect Bob.
'It is. Ya wouldn't believe the random stuff that ends up floating down here.'
Bob appears to have died from a nasty head would, probably from a blunt instrument such as a club
