Well, it kinda depends on which shop you're going into but we're very laid back about footwear here. Jandals and gumboots are entirely acceptable going out shoes, and if you're just going to the supermarket or something then bare feet is absolutely fine. I've even been to the hardware store without shoes and didn't get one weird look.
