"If I'm correct in piecing together your argument, I assume you're asking about the natural order and succession of gods in addition to how they come about. Where I, a god of the night emulate that through my appearance and actions whereas you, a god of light have a personal identity unaffiliated with your domain. I would assume thereby that if, as you put it, "A self" replaces a god then the god would indeed have then given their domain to the "self" because their identity is their own and not inherently tied to any one domain."
