Lark flits over to the tree as bird, shapechanging back into human form once he reaches a branch. Today there are two small horns just visible in his mop of unruly hair. He picks one of the purple fruits and gives it a sniff, before taking a large bite.
“Is it good?” Kila asks curiously.
"Mm hmm!" Lark mumbles, mouth stuffed to bursting. There is juice smeared all across his face.
“I hope so.. these people are to become my oracles. Soothsayers. They took most easily to the flowers.. and had the clearest visions.”
“The flowers smell good.” Kila agrees. “And Zeem and I have a present for you!”
“You do? That’s.. really nice of you. Thank you..”
He fumbled out a little silver ring. “From Zeem. And um.. I made you this.” Kila takes out a little desert style headdress woven from spider silk with beautiful golden flowers. He looks up at Nedari to see his reaction, a hopeful smile on his face.

He’s immediately hit by a rush of sensations, conflicting sounds and smells and sights resolving into a still image of his locusts razing Koszamar’s old hops fields. Then, all of a sudden, the sensation ends, and he’s falling from the branch toward the floor.
He lets out a yell, too confused and stunned to react. Before he can transform back into a bird he has hit the ground, and lies there completely still for a moment. Eventually he gets to his feet and brushes the dirt off his knees. "What happened?"

Nedari takes the ring and the headdress silently. They slip the ring onto their primary left ring finger, as far as Kila can tell through the mirage. Nedari smiles at the headdress in their hands. “I’ll save this for special occasions.. it’s too nice to wear all the time.” They pull Kila into a hug, careful to keep the headdress outside the embrace and undamaged.

Kila’s little tail wags excitedly and he hugs them back. “What kind of special occassions? Maybe we could.. hold a festival together?” Kila gently squeezes them a bit more and concentrates as hard as possible to condense the light of the mirage to make them more solid.

He experiences a similar sensation to Lark, of overpowering confusion, before the vision resolves itself into an image of Kila kissing Nedari’s cheek. Then it’s gone and Nedari is stopping Kila falling with three of his arms.

It works, somewhat. Nedari’s features are definitely more defined and solid. “A festival sounds wonderful.. what were you thinking of?”

“Mm.. the dog days are coming. We should prepare a celebration.” Kila looks intrigued now by the change and starts just trying to squish as close as possible to them.
