And River hated this. The bad thoughts piled up inside him “why am I different?” “What use do I have” “who could ever care about me?” And so with the feelings, a small pile of scars formed inside and out of him. Wrappings and “I’m fine’s” can only hide so much. So one day, another selkie named Kai noticed. Kai loved River very much and didn’t want to see him hurting.

Kai was river’s greatest supporter and helper. Kai helped River learn to swim, and run, and love himself just as Kai loved him.
