There is a decadent, well-shaded carnival of black and gold set up outside in the streets. The rotting bodies nearby have disappeared entirely. The food being served smells more intoxicating than even the drinks, which range from fine wine to cheap yet delicious beer. The place seems to call to Abigail in particular, as though her selfishness had attracted it in the first place.
She curiously misty steps to the streets, walking into the carnival
The stalls all have large umbrellas to provide protection from the sun despite it being Autumn. Many of the creatures running the shops, stalls, and tents seem to be non-human, but Abigail can't tell exactly what they are. They seem friendly enough, though, and there is plenty to entice even someone as discerning as she is.
*sorry for dissapearing, I had a test*
Abigail hums as she explores, speaking to everyone in her usual polite yet somehow condescending tone
*It's alright*
All of the carnies seem to love her despite her being less-than-friendly toward them. They offer her free food and drinks, fortune tellings, whatever they have to give.
A voice comes from the smog pumped out by the stoves and ovens, flickering with golden embers: "A quick suggestion: try the giant moth on a stick. It's very good."
She gets a bit more friendly as she goes along, enjoying the seeming respect
"Hm, I've never eaten an insect before." She says curiously

"The Victrillians breed them for their meat and wool. We have them shipped in from under Titansgrave Mountain, where it is incredibly dark but high in unraveling Nightmare magic, allowing them to generate power for the lights the moths feed off of. The result is very plump, tender, crispy insects with incredible juices. I should warn you, though, they are very large, and you might not be able to finish one on your own."
A glove manifests from the smoke and brings her a moth on a stick, about the size of a turkey leg.
Angelique and Kayla are both checking out the carnival, though they’re not together.
The carnival goers and carnies seem very nice, if unidentifiable. The food and drinks are also amazing, but don't seem to be from this plane of existence. Many of the carnies claim that their food is made of ingredients that don't seem to exist, sounding mythical at best and blatantly made up at worst.
Both Angelique and Kayla have dinner. Angelique goes for a turkey leg while Kayla contents herself with eating cotton candy.
They see a massive, shadowy creature, about 13 feet tall, dressed in ringmaster's clothes. The creature seems to be part smoke, part darkness, and part pure gold, and all evidence suggests that the clothes are part of the creature. Most of the carnies and carnival goers cheer for the monster as it bows for them, creating smoke illusions from its breath. Its footfalls are completely silent, but it has such an incredible presence that footsteps aren't needed to portray this entity's magnitude and power.
They both watch the ringmaster with interest. Angelique is awed, Kayla merely curious.
It tips its tophat to each of them in turn, revealing the bestial skull beneath the snazzy outfit, its maw dripping with wispy demons. "Come now! We came all this way just for you folks!" It intones in a deep, powerful voice, passing through a string of colorful electric lights as it walks. "Just enough is never enough!" Spectral hands manifest and start offering Angelique and Kayla food, drinks, toys, and all sorts of things. "Take whatever pleases you, I insist!"

She looks at it a little uncertainly, "Do you have cutlery?"

"Oh, come now, darling! You don't need a plate or cutlery for a delicacy such as this! You'll ruin the experience! Don't worry, no one who knows you will see! Just dig in like the Titans intended!" Another glove, this one holding several napkins, appears near her.

It's a cathartic, transcendent experience, the flavors bold and unashamed of their delicious impurity. The ripping of the soft flesh brings an animalistic glee as the savory-sweet juices spill out into her mouth. It is better than any overpriced dragon steak or fine wine that she has tasted, but at the same time it tastes wrong, somehow taboo... and that makes it taste even better.

I really like D&D, especially Ravenloft and Forgotten Realms. My pronouns are she/they.
I like reading and writing, but I’m not much of an artist.
