"Makes sense. Magic relies on symbols, does it not? Skulls for necromancy, bells for conjuration, clocks for chronomancy."
“Yep, otherwise I probably would have made it smaller and more compact,”
"Never really grasped that about magic. I'm a machinist, not an artist. Always had to hire out for the aesthetic stuff."
“It is quite strange, probably why it’s so prone to breaking. I’m better with chemistry.”
"Ah. Always nice to have someone with important knowledge like that around. Can barely make a healing salve myself."
“If you wanted some, I’m always selling them. Other elixirs, as well. But I’m not responsible for any… side effects that may occur. The medicines are mostly safe, though.”

"No thanks. Barely got any flesh to heal anyway." He looks like a normal, if dour, human. "If you ever need cheap food or labor, well, I specialize in factories and automatons. They can make almost anything, and faster than the average human can, too."

”I haven’t really had any large scale projects that would require that many people, or automatons, for a few decades. For now, at least, but thank you.”

"Well, if you ever do, you'll find me. Oswald Grouper, mechanist with an industrialist streak."

“I guess I will. I’m Dr. Corvin, by the way.”
"Ah! A doctor! Interesting. We may need some of your breed around here soon. A war seems to be brewing. Well, more of a slaughter, but you get the gist."

“Where? Why? I’m sorry, I don’t quite keep track of current events,” he readjusts his glasses, before starting to set up alchemy supplies on the table from his bag of holding.

"Well, they are very recent events. I'm going to kill an Archfey, and I want the minimum possible casualties. Even her court is in on it. I may need some doctors though, in case there is some... collateral damage. Can you heal fey? My machines will be on non-lethal settings, but accidents may result in injuries. Or death. But with luck, I foresee only a couple casualties. Possibly a couple dozen. Far less than this Archfey would have wrought if allowed to just do what she wants."

*its like you’re trying to make me mad, LOL. I’m fine tho*
”I can heal fey. I can reverse death. But how are you going to kill them? Archfey have a tendency to be pretty hard to kill if you don’t do it properly, and even then they sometimes come back. I don’t know how powerful this one is, but you would probably need quite a bit of cold wrought iron, which would be expensive.”

*I forgot who I was talking to!*
"Cold wrought iron is easy to come by when you have my wealth. Saws, balistas, modified hellfire engines, mechanical dragons... lots of runes for magical protection. Of course, a true leader leads from the front. From a tank. Armed to the teeth with as many cold iron bullets as he can muster."

“That seems a bit excessive, but I guess it’ll work.”

"I get this one thing, and I'm gonna do it however I want. It's one man and a bunch of machines against an army of fey. A cruel tyrant and childnapper, now faced with someone as heartless as she is. Very dramatic, don't you think? I'm gonna enjoy pulling out all the stops for this one."

"Tatiana. No idea what her title is, and I don't think I care. Shadow queen over Yuri, Queen of the Four Seasons. Tatiana kidnapped Yuri as a child, gave her a blood dependency, raised her to be a puppet queen, and then sent her to harass and murder hundreds of innocents. That's all that I have recorded so far. Yuri is... stable, I think. Redeemable, potentially, if she is fed properly. Tatiana... well, given what Yuri had to do for her, I'm going to have Mrs. T flayed alive and wear her as a cloak. It'll be very stylish. I know a guy who can do it. She threatened his ailing mother, too, out of genocidal mania."

Carl looks over, polishing a glass. "An artificer? We have quite a few come through these parts, is there one in particular you're looking for?"
