A man enters the tavern. He wears a blue and green tunic, brown trousers, light sandals, and a wide, straw hat. A snail shell necklace is hung around his neck, and a katana is strapped to his side.
The shadow dragon is sitting in a dark, edgy corner, mostly because everything is so bright to his eyes, including the dark corner. A faerie dragon peeks out of his coat, then ducks back inside.

A young human girl carrying a staff made of fire-colored wood walks into the tavern. She has bright red hair tied into a bun, fair skin dappled with scars, and bright green eyes like the leaves in spring. She wears a dark green cloak, a brown sweater, a pair of brown breeches, and a satchel around her shoulder. She is barefoot, covered in dirt. She takes a deep breath and lies down on a sofa.

“This your first time in the feywild? It is a pretty crazy place. Where are you from?”

"Its opposite, the Shadowfell. I was something of a big deal there, but that means absolutely nothing in this context. Honestly, this place is pretty scary, but the food and drink is better, at least. Things here are often so beautiful that they hurt my eyes."

“Wow, all the way from the shadowfell, huh.” He scratches his chin, “This place is very different. It isn’t that bad though, once you get used to it.”

"It's a lot like the Shadowfell in some ways. Even the little things have got some serious teeth. Just yesterday I had my free will reduced to a passing thought by a group of faerie dragons that used me as a playground. If it weren't for Auntie Cottonmouth, I would probably have been trapped there forever. Honestly, I would prefer the more direct threats present in the plane of shadow than all these... enchantments."

“Yes, this place is wondrous, but many of its charms conceal traps and danger. Just the other day I was almost baked into a pie by some hideous hag. The Shadowfell’s horrors are much more outright about how they want to kill you.”

"I don't like things that masquerade as being good. The Shadowfell is ugly, and I like it that way. Sure, it has plenty of illusions, and things constantly shift around, but it just... makes sense."

"I've noticed. I half want to take them home with me, but then everyone in the Shadowfell will want some, and then they would come here... it would be a disaster for both sides. Have you heard of the Debauched Knights? Those guys would abandon their posts and be all over this stuff."

“The Debauched Knights? I haven’t heard of them, who are they?”
"An elite order of 'paladins,' if you can even call them that. They live for pleasure and do not care for honor or morality. They are told from childhood that they need to be the best and that they deserve the best, and so they have the finest food and wine, softest bedsheets, most beautiful company, and flashiest armor that you can get in the Shadowfell. They live like kings, and needless to say, the ones who they serve live like emperors. I used to be one of them until I was offered a noble title beyond 'knight.' It was only then that I realized the flaws in their systems."

“I have never heard of this order. How do they come by their riches?”
"They serve the highest nobles of the Shadowfell, who in turn gain their riches through trade with the Material Plane. The knights are also work-for-hire, so they serve whoever provides them with the best indulgences. They are some of the strongest men and women on that plane. They can cast spells previously thought to belong to wizards alone, and can slash through any resistance with little effort."

I really like D&D, especially Ravenloft, Exandria and the Upside Down from Stranger Things. My pronouns are she/they (genderfae).
