A guy shows up at the resistance base. He's wearing a grey metal mask.  'Don't shoot. I'm one of you guys'

*I’m going to do a cyborg character instead of a protogen.*

A woman with pale skin and auburn hair knocks on the door to the resistance base. she looks completely human, but her left leg has been replaced with an artificial one. She looks to be limping, since her left leg isn’t working at the moment.

”Anyone here? I need someone to help me with this? My darn leg isn’t working and it’s making me a sitting duck.”

'I got a medical pack, you want?'

 “Thanks for offering but I don’t think that would work. My leg was replaced by a robotic one a few years ago.”

She lifts up her pant leg and he can see that her whole leg is robotic, and seems to be seizing up

'I could try fix it, but I'm not super proficient. Better at taking stuff apart than putting it back together'

“That would be nice. Just.. don’t break it. I spent a lot on it and I don’t think anyone can replace it anymore.”

The guy tries to fix her leg. 'You one of the members of this base then?'

“I’m not a member yet. This blasted leg seized up a few days ago and I’ve been looking for help.”

She brushes her hair out of her eyes and looks at the man. “But I may be able to join if I can walk without this leg dragging behind me. “

'Well, I'm not a member yet either. I was from the East Michigan Resistance, but our base got destroyed when a load of robots just appeared out of pretty much nowhere. I can try give you help, if you need it'

“What do you mean by help specifically? Like with my leg or in general?”

The woman looks confused 

'Whatever keeps ya from dying. We don't want that'

“Ah. I’ll accept your help. I’m decent with a rifle but I accidentally left mine back at home. It was an antique but it still worked pretty well.”

'That sucks that you lost it, but at least those skills might come in handy'

*oops I misread 2029 as 2077*

”Do you know how I might join this resistance? Those machines need to be stopped before they do any more damage.”

'I guess we have to get accepted by these guys'

*i think we would need to wait for nolkiss*

”Why did you want to join mister…”

'It's safer. Sure, you can go around with a gang of survivalists or whatever, but sooner or later, they might stab you in the back for a packet of rations. Whereas, the Resistance has resources, is less likely to kill you out of sheer desperation. And how about you? Why did you come here?'

“Similar reasons as you have. My family ran off as soon as this chaos started and I didn’t have anyone else to lean on. I didn’t want to join a group of survivalists because they might kill me sooner or later.  And then my leg started acting up and I couldn’t survive on my own.”

“Oh and I’m Sophia by the way.”

'Yeah, makes sense. Safety in numbers and all that. I grew up in the East Michigan base, Resistance life was all I've known. Not that I was some kind of hero, I worked with the tech teams sorting out the robots we'd broken, repurposing their parts. Sophia's a nice name, I guess'

“I guess? Is there something wrong with it?”
