The two of you get geared up with basic space-suits, fins and air tanks: Equipment reminiscent of what ocean divers would use. Each space-suit also has a simple knife sheathed in a holster around the leg, to cut away snagging kelp or defend oneself in the direst of circumstances.

JD has the submarine ready to go by the time you're all geared up. "Alright, the sub's all good to go, and I presume you are as well. Ready for an adventure?"

“Ready!” Sarah says happily.

"Climb aboard! Exploration awaits!" JD climbs into the submersible via a little extendable bridge, sitting in the pilot's chair and priming the controls.

Sarah climbs aboard the submersible.

Again, Able follows. He sits behind JD and tries to watch what he does to get the submersible running.

The inside of the Corydoras is a tad small, but has enough space and seats for three occupants. You can see JD, leafing through the book he was reading earlier, pressing a button or turning a knob before looking back at the book to see what to do next, and repeating that cycle for about a minute. You get a good idea of what each button does from both watching JD start up the sub and the occasional glance at his book.

The submersible engines slowly awaken, a quiet hum resonating from the back of the Corydoras. The mechanical arms keeping the sub above the astral fluid slowly lower it into the waves below, and release the sub with an audible hiss of hydraulics, and as soon as you all descend fully beneath the fluid... everything from the Codex falls silent.

Out of the front and side windows, you all can see schools of fish and jellyfish drifting about in the distant ocean, and the glittering lights of stars and bioluminescent creatures alongside the rocky shapes of asteroids and far-away planets. A large, serpentine creature swims out of view and deeper into the purplish mist of the astral ocean. The Sea of Stars lay sprawled out before you, welcoming your expedition with open arms.

"Alright, where to? I'll do my best to go wherever you wanna head, but I might show you a few of my favorite spots as well. You know, the scenic route." JD cracks his knuckles and prepares to drive the sub.

Able smiles as they set out, and does his best to remember what he learned about the mechanics and buttons of the ship. He looks at Sarah. 

"Well, I don't know a ton about really... any of this big ol sea. I'll go wherever." 

“Why don’t you show us your favorite spots?” Sarah suggests.

*Oh dear... I see we're starting on a more precarious note than I first anticipated...*

As the submersible approaches the kelp forest, a somewhat large creature- about the size of a person- swims close enough to get a good view of it. It is shark-like in general shape, and has an elongated tail fin reminiscent of a thresher shark, but it also has... a carapace? And spines? And crustacean-like legs?

This shark-lobster-thing swims right up next to the side window on Able's side, looking into the sub and right at him. It seems curious. JD seems nervous, stopping the sub's movement.

Also, Sarah has the ability to communicate with all forms of marine life, but it’s up to you whether this applies to life forms in the Astral Sea.

The creature also looks at you for a moment. It seems more curious than hostile, but this is still a wild animal we're talking about: If it feels threatened, it might turn violent.

Sarah takes her hand off her dagger and waves to the creature in a friendly way.

Able fiddles with a large-ish golden coin, a tad bit nervous but very intrigued. He puts his face right up to the glass, slowly, and stares into the creature's eyes. ".....What's this guy called?" He asks JD.

"That, my friend, is an Spiny Armored Starshark. Oddly enough, it isn't related to crustaceans or sharks in the least! Convergent evolution at its finest." The starshark looks back at Able, its eye having a large bewildered-looking pupil, unsure as to what you are.
