Proficiency +strength for most weapons, proficiency +Dex for ranged, either for finesse weapons like rapier or dagger.
only add proficiency if you’re proficient of course, but I think Paladin has proficiency in all weapons anyways so it’s fine.

Oh yeah, standard array, I was just slightly confused because most characters still have an eight in some stat and don’t add anything to it. If you took 2 from wisdom and gave it to con, you’d get an extra 21 hitpoints.
