I was gonna write my backstory but my mood got ruined by learning about the new Anime LOTR thing. Like why does every show and every movie have to get dragged out or bad adaptations? And I'm not against Anime but like.. you had LOTR which was phenomenal, The Hobbit which even by the people who like it like me agree there's problems and it should've been done differently, and then the rings of power which most didnt like, and you're gonna gamble an Anime?
List of shows and movies that this has happened to off the top of my head: 1.Mary poppinsThe Lord Of The Rings (Or, rather the stuff that came after it, Hobbit was decent but had problems but idk the rest doesnt seem worth the watch) Star Wars Marvel (though i dont watch it) Avatar (The live action stuff) Night At The Museum Planes (Though I dont really watch it I remember watching it as a kid, second was trash.) Pirates Of The Caribbean

It honestly depends on A, who the director is, which from what I’ve heard is the same one and B, what studio is doing the animation. Also, I like Night At The Museum. All of them. They are peak
Also, lets be fair, Peter Jackson did The Hobbit. And while I like the hobbit tons of unnecessary stuff happened such as overuse of CGI, adding Tariel and Legolass, and showing everything Gandalf did. Plus some of props and effects werent as good as lotr, like Kili's bow with an elastic string.
And they have a dude from Adult Swim on there.. I know that doesnt mean theyre gonna make it like adult swim but like kind of an odd choice

Because you set your expectations high. When you compare the movie to one of the best ever (in others opinion, I personally hate LOTR) the best way to judge a sequel is to first, actually watch the movie, second, judge it in a vacuum, slowly moving out. First ask “was it a good movie on its own” then “Was it a good adaptation?” Then finally “How does this compare to the original?” You jump straight to three, from what I’m reading.

And I understand that, but people should just make other movies instead of dragging them off others. I wouldn't be so mad if 50% of new movies werent adaptations, remakes, sequels, and prequels. But I understand what you mean. But it is a prequel and should at least be judged with the original in mind, like I said, if Taylor Swift made a heavy metal album metal fans may like it but the people who watch it dont, its very much going offbrand. Not that im against trying new things but seriously just make a new movie thats not a sequel.. it just works better
