Earlier today while she was pissed off at me, she said if I don't start sayin' things like "Yes, ma'am" and "No, sir", she'll take 10 minutes off my daily game time (which is already two hours a day) anytime I didn't. She's always wanted me to say stuff like that to 'be respectful' but I never did. Guess she's finally crackin' down.

She’s asking for respect when there isn’t any. Those are supposed to be used to show respect, so if you don’t have that don’t request it.
eh I disagree. It is respectful, yes, and even if you feel disrespectful it doesn't matter. if you don't say "yes sir" and "yes ma'am" some adults will see you as disrespectful, and will not really like you, and since your parents are the ones that teach you what to say, they will view your parents as bad parents. and it's the least you could do for her considering your parents keep you under their roof and feed you.
Considering Elk's parents are abusive, I don't think such respect is deserved
Yeah, giving someone the basic human requirements is not being a ‘good parent’ by any means. That’s like expecting a 100 on a project you barely put effort into. You can’t just do less than the minimum and hope for the best.
Is this a Midwestern or southern thing? In the North East no body wants you to call them ma’am or Sir, unless they’re teachers maybe. Even then it’s usually Mr. or Mrs.
