So it would translate to something along the lines of “Keep memory that you will die”

I’ve also seen it translated as “Remember, thou art mortal.” The Roman emperors used to have someone around whose sole job was to remind the emperor that he was not a god and he would die someday too.
I can just imagine myself walking around the palace doin' that in the sassiest way possible then cacklin' manically when the emperor got mad at me.
