I've decided that I'm gonna save up for a PS5 and Spiderman 2. How am I gonna get $550 you ask? Good question.

Dude, I just got one for Christmas. All I had to do was be patient, and keep telling my friends I was going to get one eventually.
The thing is, my parents have already told me I'm not gettin' one unless I buy it myself, like they do for a lotta the stuff I tell them I wanna get.

If anyone is around, wanted to know what you guys thought of this random idea I had for recruiting players for a PBP game:
So, people can be good players, but sometimes they don’t mesh very well with the style of game I run just because of differences in how we play. The idea is, I run three home brew one shots, each with 6 players. I run all them at once. Whenever a player does something especially creative, fun, or interesting, I’ll award them a point. I’ll award points fairly often, and they will be very useful. This encourages the players to engage in the habits stated above.
Once a group finishes, I’ll ask the group who would be interested in continuing to a larger homebrew campaign. Anyone who is interested will get a chance. I will total up the points of any player who wants a chance at the bigger game. This will be their modifier.
Then, each of them will roll a die (the size will be determined by the average amount of points the group gained per person, so that way the usefulness of points vs the usefulness of a good dice luck is balanced). Their modifier will be added to the die roll, and the players with the two highest scores will be asked to join the new game. If they don’t, they can differ to the people farther down the list
on a tie, the player with the highest modifier gets preference. If they are still tied, we roll flat d20’s until someone gets a higher value.
What do we think?

I think t'would be cool, but two people might be a bit boring. maybe if there is at least 10 in one thread than 4, but if less, maybe like 3

That seems an overly complicated, and doesn’t really seem to solve the problem you stated. Also, that would be running for 18 different people at the same time would be incredibly difficult, even if it’s just a one shot. And people will probably feel cheated since it’s only two people who get to participate.
Oh, I meant to clarify two people from each game, for a total of 6 six people in the big campaign. Or maybe 2 groups and the top three get in?
Edit: yeah, two groups and three people from each group seems like a better idea. Anything else we see that could be changed?
As for your point about it not solving the problem, Himy, how so? The problem is players who don’t mesh well with the style of games I run, so I introduce a system to not only encourage that, but also to filter out players who don’t quite “click” with my games. That way I don’t recruit people for a long term game then find we don’t really mesh well.
As for complicated, it is somewhat, but I’d handle most of it. All the players have to do is keep track of their points, say whether they’d be interested in joining the big game, then roll a single die at the end of the game.

If players don’t mesh well with your style, you could solve that problem by just making your dming style clear. Giving you players points does not encourage them to fit your style. It just encourages them to rp well and use their brains. And when I said complicated, I meant that you could achieve the same result with much less effort

Dang, that’s tough bro. I would suggest stealing, but I don’t know how good you are at that.
A fuqin ps5? Damn if you can steal one of those you deserve it Jesus
I’m a decent DM and an above average rules lawyer
I have several complete Pokedexes | I may be stupid, but at least I’m not smart!
Stay Paranoid!! My Drummer given title is… Swift as the Dragon
May the dice roll ever in your favor
Ah, if you can sprint, you can steal, and I’m pretty sure Agate and sprint fast enough.
Most places keep such high value items behind glass or locked where only the employees can reach. So he would have to do more then just run with it.

Thats the thing though, Walmarts carry ps5s just out in the open, grab one, and sprint with all the speed you can muster.
Must be a different state thing, all that is behind glass here in Florida.

Think that’s just in Florida. If you were smart enough, you could leave a Walmart here with a 50 inch flatscreen tv (I do not condone theft)

I just had the best show idea
