Magic creates corruption (magical pollution) in the environment, and it sinks down through the air and into the earth; magic has mass, and it can cause mutations, poisoning, etc. from buildup;
Magic’s function is based on the mental state of the user, so like creates like; for example, healing in combat is difficult, and it would take a particularly disgruntled soul to use combat magic in a peaceful place; it’s easier to use magic in areas where it has been used in the same way previously due to the buildup of corruption
Magic is sort of anti-shamanic, pushing one’s spirit out of one’s own body to manipulate the environment and use powers; this is a blasphemous act and creates corruption wherever the spirit treads, which attracts demons from the ether; the demons are the creations of the Ghost, a crude and horrifying interpretation of life from the perspective of a being that has no body; they aren’t attracted to corruption as much as they can move through corrupted spaces to come into our world, which has myriad delights; demons hate open air and sunlight; they seem to emerge from the earth when they appear.
The form of the body is dependant on the form of the soul; possession of a creature or object changes its appearance to resemble the soul within it; mages can misalign their souls so that they can gain the powers and shape of their own souls, effectively possessing themselves; this is considered a lost art.
Three gods: The Sovereign, god of Down, the Light, god of Up, and the Ghost, god of Sideways; The Light bound the Sovereign to make the material world, and the Ghost, the Sovereign’s lover, has never left its side, becoming the spiritual world; The Light altered life to create what we have now, and corruption is the Ghost’s influence trying to bring back elements of the Sovereign’s creations; the Ghost invented magic and taught it to mortals long ago as an act of rebellion toward the Light.
Using magic requires preparing the body through eating specific foods and performing specific rituals; different ingredients and their preparation styles have different effects based on the spiritual metabolism of the mage, so each one needs to experiment with their diet; symbols drawn, carved, tattooed, etc. on the skin grand increased power in specific fields of magic.

Alolan pecha berry salsa!
Nowhere near original, but this recipe is my creation because most of the recipes include bell pepper, which I'm allergic to. Ingredients: One yellow onion Two fresh peaches One fresh tomato One lime One lemon Canned tomato and green chile mix. This is what I use, it gives a change in texture, but you can subsitute by using one jalepeno or hatch chile and adding an extra small tomato or half large tomato Cilantro Salt to taste
Step one: Chop onion, peaches, and tomato (and chile, if you choose)
Step two: Put into a Tupperware with canned chiles and tomato
Step three: Juice lemon and lime
Step four: Add juice, salt and chopped cilantro to tupperware
Step five: Seal tupperware securely with lid and Shake the everlovin heck out of it
Enjoy with chips, fresh veggies, or straight outta the tupperware with a spoon. For extra yumminess, chill for 2-5 hours in the fridge before eating. The citrus juice practically ceviches the peach.
