Except x said this several weeks ago and keeps telling me they’ll do it this weekend, but there have been several ‘this weekends’ and i just really wish x had never said they were going to tell their parents because it hurts every time i ask if x has told their parents and their answer is …no im planning on doing it tonight. I really want this to be an official relationship that we can be open about and go on dates and formal things and whatnot but I’m not sure if x is actually capable of doing that.

also I think my expectations are just too high in general because i expect others to do for me what i would for them (which is probably more than is healthy)

 Have you tried just being straight with them? This may sound incredibly cliche and kinda cheesy, but communication is the key to any good relationship. Tell them what you expect of them as a partner. Maybe your expectations are too high. Then you can lower them to a more realistic level. If X keeps saying that they’re going to do y and z, but they keep delaying it, tell X how that makes you feel. Maybe they don’t realize that they’re hurting you. But in order to do all that, you have to say something 

Or don’t, idk, I hate people too much to get in a relationship, so do with that what you will

Tell them what you expect of them as a partner. Maybe your expectations are too high. Then you can lower them to a more realistic level. But in order to do all that, you have to say something
