I think it’s the latter. Suffering isn’t a uniquely human experience. Suffering is just a fact of life and being capable of thought. But I think it’s more than just being in a bad situation. It’s more about recognizing that your situation isn’t ideal, that you don’t like being in this situation, and that this situation should be avoided in the future.
