CAMPAIGN IDEA:
Long ago, a god was struck down. Akash, god of wind, was seen as a vile and twisted creature by the gods. It has been two centuries and the gods have maintained a strong grip on the land. They rule from the heavens and below, while Akash has not been seen. Over time, a revolution was formed against the gods by people who wanted humans to make their own choices instead of having everything decided by the gods. And then Akash returned as a mortal. The only clue to the mortal being Akash was the strong aura of wind around him. This mortal was a tiefling with no memories-Tieflings were naturally distrusted in this world, as they were symbols of the demons, the ancient rulers of the world before the gods ascended and destroyed them. You, the party, have found this tiefling, and whatever your reasons are for this, are trying to protect him from the monsters the gods have sent after him and bring him back to godhood. (Some explanations for why the player might want this: part of the revolution, a priest of Akash, a kindred soul, maybe even a spy trying to get to Akash.)
Level 10 start… because my baby is level 10 and I want to use him in combat.
Note: Akash is just an excuse to have a DMPC of my beautiful character Gale.

Level one is great imo
Idk, the thing about high levels is you start to lose options. At level one you’re not very good at most things, you might have like 1 or 2 abilities, which actually makes almost everything an equally good option. You can be creative with actions and attacks. At level one you might cut a chandelier so that it falls onto you’re enemy instead of attacking, but at level 10? Well at that point you have a +6 long sword with blah blah blah and the best attack will always be: swing sword (or, 90% of the time) at high levels trying other things isn’t even worth it, because you’ve maxxed out one ability to be the best attack it can.. and so that’s the attack you’ll do. And then when you can’t do that ability you feel useless
At level one, even if I had no weapons on my character, I’d still feel like what I did actually mattered
