Long ago, a god was struck down. Akash, god of wind, was seen as a vile and twisted creature by the gods. It has been two centuries and the gods have maintained a strong grip on the land. They rule from the heavens and below, while Akash has not been seen. Over time, a revolution was formed against the gods by people who wanted humans to make their own choices instead of having everything decided by the gods. And then Akash returned as a mortal. The only clue to the mortal being Akash was the strong aura of wind around him. This mortal was a tiefling with no memories-Tieflings were naturally distrusted in this world, as they were symbols of the demons, the ancient rulers of the world before the gods ascended and destroyed them. You, the party, have found this tiefling, and whatever your reasons are for this, are trying to protect him from the monsters the gods have sent after him and bring him back to godhood. (Some explanations for why the player might want this: part of the revolution, a priest of Akash, a kindred soul, maybe even a spy trying to get to Akash.)
Level 10 start… because my baby is level 10 and I want to use him in combat.
Note: Akash is just an excuse to have a DMPC of my beautiful character Gale.
Holy sh*t… I have literally never seen anyone on here start at level 1
Its almost always 6 and above
Does no one else like low level gameplay?
Level 1 sucks
3 is fine, I use 3 a ton.
I just wanted to use a fun build.
I never understand why people dislike level one so much. At that level you have to actually think about what you’re doing instead of comboing x y and z to do 5 bazzilion damage and kill the boss instantly

O sorrow, I have ended, you see, by respecting you, because I am certain you will never leave me.
Ah! I realize it: your beauty lies in the force of your being. You are like those who never left the sad fireside corner of my poor black heart.
O my sorrow, you are better than a well-beloved: because I know that on the day of my final agony, you will be there, lying in my sheets, O sorrow, so that you might once again attempt to enter my heart.

I think people just hate that it’s squishy.
For me, I personally like levels 3-10, after that it gets boring, before that too squishy. There are fun abilities and I don’t minmax much but I did for this character so he turned out pretty fun as a high level.

No, but that does sound interesting. There are three RPG systems I know a decent bit about:
1. D&D (obviously)
2. The Fallout TTRPG released by Modiphius games
3. The My Little Pony TTRPG using the Essence 20 system (don't remember the publisher)

I get it though, and though I don’t think I directly said people don’t die at higher levels. My biggest complaint really is mostly about the thing I mentioned in my first response
I just feel like people who are saying level one is too weak generally want to be powerful, which entails less danger of death, you know what I mean? High level characters do die, but I feel (feel is not an accurate thing I’ve tested btw) that they die less often
Anyway, all styles of play are totally valid, I’m not saying my preferences are better than yours, it’s all just a matter of opinion and personal enjoyment. All that matters really is that your group is on the same page as you, not random people like me online

Personally, I don't necessarily want to die, but I do want not dying to be a challenge - it doesn't satisfy me if it's too easy.
