Mother Goose, the Matron of the world of Spindlewood (working title) started everything with a story. A story she hasn’t stopped telling. What Mother Goose says goes, and what she says is always the truth simply because Mother Goose said it. A kingdom falls with a word, fates are decided by her feathered guidance, and adventures are ended by two words from her beak: THE END. She is a kind fowl, who wishes only to bring fun, joy, and a little bit of excitement into the lives of those who call Spindlewood their home. The endless fairytale forest of Spindlewood, with all its villainous witches and all its brave little children, deeply respect Mother Goose. Or, at least, most of them do.
Many quotes are attributed to Mother Goose, but among the most famous are as follows. “Most people, in most places, barely live one life. Through my words, you shall live a thousand.” As time passes forward in Spindlewood, history is written backwards by the fowl. Written, and rewritten, and rewritten again until she decides what is best. Since the first hundred years of Spindlewood’s existence, it has experienced tens of thousands of years of history.
Mother Goose herself is an enormous waterfowl close in size to a Rhinoceros. Always carrying many storybooks upon her back, she is seemingly everywhere. It is a common theory that every person in Spindlewood has met Mother Goose, since everyone recognizes and remembers her. She can often be found reading to children, helping out a gardener with his plants, having tea with the mayor, or any other sort of mundane activity. Seeking her out when you request to speak with her about important matters, however… you’ll have a bit of trouble finding her.
