The idea was that mainstream media outlets have been mid recently and because they control a lot of what we get to see and hear, it is harder for the average Joe to find something worth reading, watching, or playing.
This brings me to my next hot take, if you will. Online/internet culture has definitely had a negative impact on the way we communicate with each other. Seemingly, there is no immediate consequence for coming across disrespectful and apathetic towards our fellow men. What transpires on the photons in front of us escalates into immature and even often violent altercations in the physical world.
There is a common theme in these “hot takes” of mine. For some it is hard to see the full picture. That comes from pride. Ego, at its base, is actually a good thing. It is what makes us unique and allows us to make decisions for ourselves! Over inflated ego has a more detrimental effect in that it is what makes us think that our opinions and ideas are superior to others, and as such, other ideas and opinions are deserving of the technological apathy I spoke of before.
We live in what I call the Age of Entitlement. The world would have us believe that we are deserving of every good thing that can ever come to us, merely existing being the only merit needed to deserve such a ridiculous award.
I challenge any who read this to take time away from the wiles of the chaotic and fast-paced world we live in to ponder. Ponder about the things you have. Ponder about where you are. What have you been blessed with? Hopefully, in this meager attempt to develop an attitude of gratitude, humility will set in.
Maybe then, humanity will have more uplifting and unifying encounters with each other and less degrading and demeaning ones.
Edited your message to only include the parts I am addressing because I like discussion and debate, but I do find your claims interesting regarding an Age of Entitlement. I can't speak on a good majority of the world, but it's a very Americanized thing and I would disagree that it is both negative and "entitlement". I think the word you're looking for is Individualism, which is much different than entitlement. Modern individualism is manufactured, from privatization and de funding public services, making more public spaces difficult to inhabit, overall promoting isolation and privacy. I don't think more people feel "entitled" today-- it's the opposite, actually. American minimum wage is 40 % lower than minimum wage in 1970 (adjusting for inflation) (source) and that's not even accounting for housing prices and other costs that have risen drastically. People now have to work much harder to afford anything, and this "entitlement" is the same thing many millennials were accused of when asking for basic compensation (using their PTO, going on vacation, buying things they don't need). Many people feel embarrassed about using SNAP benefits and other things labeled "government handouts" due to the whole idea that using them means they're "entitled" to them. I think also entitlement is race-centric and made to be that way by the industry, with non-white communities having much more connection than more suburban neighborhoods (no source here because I'm lazy but if I'm wrong and you researched it please tell me) which is likely due to the fact that communities below the poverty line tend to be more connected. So yes, there is certainly a demographic being most affected by individualism but that isn't some sort of fault that you can place on them specifically, rather, it is the fault of the structure of society as a whole.
I also think that yes, everyone is deserving of every good thing coming to them just by merely existing. No one has to do anything to deserve a gift. It's a gift, given freely. I think that everyone, regardless of my personal opinion on them (guy shoots and kills my family? yea I'd hate him forever but he still deserves human rights and not to be tortured in horrible conditions in a prison) deserves not only human rights, but also the right to pursue their own happiness as long as doing so doesn't actively harm other people.
As for your claim on Online/Internet culture having a negative impact, I actually read a study about this recently (yes I'm a nerd. I also can't find the exact paper bc it was a bit ago but this has the same claim and is accredited as far as I know) and most studies point to the fact that people that are aggressive in person will be aggressive online, not that it opens up some sort of secret hidden evil side. That's actually found much more often in road rage I'm pretty sure rather than online activity. Internet culture varies, and however deep you are in the internet generally determines the severity of the effects on you, just as with everything else. I agree that social media has a measurable negative impact on individuals in terms of how much information they are taking in and what they are being exposed to, but I wouldn't say internet culture is bad as a whole. Again, relating this back to privatization and money, most people are confined to certain social media outlets because of how addictive they're made to be (not the fault of the individual). This is once again perpetuated by loneliness caused by individualism. Also, I think this is majorly influenced by the age of people who get on the internet now, as well as frequent access to it. Children are pushed away from their peers and then handed ipads and phones to cope, which fosters an addiction due to how the developmental brain is set up. Younger online spaces will end up being more "toxic" because children are being raised unsupervised online by strangers. There are also much less child friendly spaces (club penguin, roblox etc) than there used to be. Overall, I think that the internet and online culture isn't toxic, it's specifically individuals who have been raised solely by the internet and proximity to annoying people online who you would never have met if you never opened Twitter (I'm deadnaming X because I don't care and I hope Elon falls in a woodchipper). You can find a lot of smaller, nicer communities if you know where to look and to evade large corporations and dodge annoying people.
I completely agree with you on mainstream media being mid. To address Wes and Himy here, the reason it makes more money is because of the control on media outlets as a whole. They actively prevent other companies from producing original media by buying up all of them and then save money by producing sequels and live action remakes, so that when you visit a movie theatre most of your options consist of slop produced by massive corporations. Yes, while indie creators are still creating movies and games, it is much more difficult to do so in the modern environment of copyright, censorship, and more (itch.io and scratch vs mastercard stuff). And before you get iffy on "those are 18+ games being censored" they've actually extended what counts as 18+ several times to include things like LGBT themes. So yes, a lot of triple A games and mainstream media is on active decline caused by late stage capitalism. It's not a supply or demand thing (I don't see people begging for live action Lion King but it made a crap load of money) and more of a conservation of money and overall control on media. I also don't think anyone is going around thinking "Wow, that was the best movie I've ever seen in my life" over things like that. But that's not fact driven, and I may go research satisfaction rates with modern movies 2020-2025 later.
You did have two different points (VTL bringing up that modern media was on a decline, Himy stating that modern storytelling is not on a decline) and you're both correct, just not addressing what eachother was trying to say. Funding for a lot of small creators and individual film producers was already hard to come by and has only gotten worse, but that doesn't mean all media has been on a decline, just the ones shoved in your face most of the time. A majority of Americans that also watch TV and movies don't have the time to commit to full shows and don't prefer anime, which is a turn off from going on an indie research dive. They just access what's available to them and what's familiar (again, back to capitalism. this sort of "no one has time for anything outside of work" is fully manufactured).
Anyway, that's my opinion on it. I think Rogue One was peak and also really enjoyed Flow.

Well, Ares just dropped recently. It's the third in the series, I think? The second movie is pretty decent, haven't seen the first, and Ares was basically one dragged-out combat.

Plain Jane, a trans woman in a brightly colored jacket with bioluminescent bacteria in it. She wields exclusively throwing knives in combat, but usually just uses them for tricks (she's a pro at darts). She's always drinking soda, but doesn't seem to have a preference for any brand or flavor.
Also, she always wins at board games.

Hey is anyone here good at making skill trees?
If I’m being annoying, tell me to shut up. Seriously. Just say “Bananer shut up.” And I will. For a few seconds!
Don’t listen to the folks down at Adohands. It’s good for me to overwork myself.
