Wwwwwwwould anyone join a tavern based on the Sunbearer Trials which is sorta like the hunger games and Percy Jackson combined but Mexican and woke? In it, only one person has to die and it’s like… trials. Not stuffed in an arena and forced to kill each other.

Finished the OP for the Trials of the Depths. Would anyone be interested? It’s very much a ripoff but the original idea would work so so so well as a tavern… Also sorry to anyone who got invested in my last tavern :p ADHD go brrrrrr
DISCLAIMER: This tavern is based on the Sunbearer Trials, although I tried to change it a tiny bit (not very much, just removed some really cool stuff from the books). It’s a wonderful book with wonderful characters and if you enjoy this tavern you should go read it RIGHT NOW. Or whenever you wanna. It’s really good though. Hunger games x Percy Jackson but woke and Mexican.
Centuries ago, monsters roamed the world. Vile bloodthirsty beasts that always hungered for more. Their master was a corrupted god, Asu. The other gods feared Asu too much to do anything. The mortals, however, hated them. A mortal traveled to the depths of the ocean and retrieved a pearl, imprisoning Asu and their monsters deep within it. But every decade, the pearl had to be soaked in divine blood, or else Asu and their monsters would come free.
The gods had a solution. They had children, many children. The children became heroes, protecting the world, and every decade, the Trials of the Depths would happen, Fate, the spirit of the mortal who had collected the pearl, choosing the best demigods to join the trials. The winner would win glory and fame. The loser would be the sacrifice to keep Asu trapped.
There will be five trials and ten contestants, unless this experiences a boom in activity. Then I’ll add more slots. After every trial, Fate will rank you. Trials will be coordinated with everyone who wants to participate, probably once a week or month. The rest of the time will be spent roleplaying and getting to know other contestants, or doing mini-trials because that sounds kinda fun.
Characters will be level ten. They come from the world of Sasuan, a modern world where the gods walk among the people, and it’s a bit like China and Japan architecture wise. The people worship the gods and the demigod heroes. The gods are mostly kind and accepting, although there are a few nasties. The world is strong, and friendly competition is common. Every god gets a city, and demigods are native to their parent’s city. Demigods' raisings vary depending on their parents. Minor gods tend to have their children go to public school while also privately training in case they’re chosen for the Trials. Major gods’ children are privately tutored in most cases.
For this, feel free to make up gods and cities. If someone takes a domain, I’ll put it on the OP. If you’d like to coordinate siblings, feel free, just make sure you and your partner are on the same page. I won’t add rules here cause I feel like y’all know the rules fairly well by now (hint: they’re on my other taverns) but I’d like this to stay serious and mature, but not too mature. This thread will not have rules about permission to attack, but permission to romance is always a thing in my threads. You can make multiple characters, and if you do, I’ll add to the slots. Please tell me if you’d like to join. This will use stat blocks, character sheets, and combat, be aware of that.
