Feel like KOTLC's quality kinda goes down in the later books

 sort of, I am a huge fan. I do love the action, but everyone gets too overpowered.

 I pay more attention to the plot and KOTLC's plot is just all over the place. Action is pretty cool, I love reading/writing fight scenes.

I don’t want to sound like I hate the books or people who read them.

But I have an extreme dislike for that series. Maybe because it really, like Bananer said, goes down in quality as it goes on and struggles to continue any plot it began with (by attempting to continue the series by simply adding powers onto this pretty much invincible protagonist), or just because my sister annoyed me so much by reading it out loud around the house for years.

TL;DR: no thanks

 that's fine, everyone has different intrests! I agree with 90% of that but I still like it.

Back in the older days, there were some generalist threads that anyone could hop into (Vanderblit, DAO, LOR so on so forth) and then there were threads for like 8 peoples special interest that still survived because of how invested they were in it (Adohand’s Bizarre Adventure)

What about how the threads are made/work? Like I’ve looked through the older, more popular RP threads and they don’t have anywhere close to as many rules and character creation gibberish as newer ones do

 That's one too.

For me, the rules are non negotiable unless they're for flavor. It's to keep my threads a safe place. A lot of previous, active threads were not safe places.
