Papa would bring me little things
That he'd spirited away from the forest and trees
And it made me feel on wings

When I was young
Mama would bid me to wash the dishes and go to bed,
When I'd lay down with all the craze of the day just seeping out my mind...
Then all the faeries and the will-o'-wisps would whirl inside my head!

When I was young, the world seemed so wondrous
But when you grow up, you'll see that it's not so
The dreariness claws its hands and envelops your wonder
And you go wondering where it's gone until you go

When I was young
I let my sense of wonder go astray
And then I grew up and let my mind wander
To where I'd let it out to play
