Humans invite the Judges into their bodies through contracts, giving them some amount of control. The human, now known as a Contestant, can make offerings to their Judge by experiencing things that their Judge likes. Some Judges like food, or music, or perfumes, or any number of things, but the important thing is that the Judge enjoys their experience in the Contestant’s body.
Each Judge has their own abilities, and their own politics which are somewhat alien to humanoids, and forcing Judges to cohabitate in one Contestant is dangerous as their personalities, beliefs, or even powers may clash.
Failure to appease a Judge has consequences if the Judge so chooses, ranging from pain to crippling damage to immediate death.
Judges are fickle beings. They play favorites with Contestants and offerings, they grow bored, and they have an incredible sense of superiority due to their godlike power. In their minds, mortals are mere ants who are incredibly good at worthless artistic pursuits.
Is that a thread idea? I would join it.

I really love this. The dangers of Judges cohabitating in one body could be very interesting :>
Call of Cthulhu. The TTRPG system. It’s like D&d but in the nineteen twenties, with ancient aliens from beyond space and before time, and also you’re literally just a normal person.

Imagine you invite a republican and a democrat into your house, and they both detonate their nuclear bomb vests as soon as they see each other, then they leave without a word.
Judges are very liberal with the harm they cause. They can also sever contracts much more easily than a mortal can.
One thing I came up with is that in big fights, the Judges create eldritch storms around the combatants to keep them from running away, and you can see their spectral avatars betting on the fight. Your showmanship can count as an offering in and of itself, as these "dog fights" forge temporary contracts with every being involved. You could get power from a Judge you didn't even know existed because he bet you would hit that fire hydrant and won and he wants to reward you.

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
May each word that I speak be backed by each of my teeth.
Daredevil and Spider-Man fit all of those categories in my opinion. And somewhat unrelated, but no one will ever be able to convince me Batman is a good guy.
Daredevil and Spider-Man do fit those categories, but not as well as Batman, though keep in mind this is my opinion. Any question of what is the "best so-and-so" will come down to opinion if it isn't strictly based on function.
Batman is good, evil, or antihero depending on the author. He always makes questionable decisions but some of that comes down to suspension of disbelief and some of that comes down to the one of the biggest and best Batman questions ever: is he actually any more sane than the villains he fights?
Today I street performed at a local festival and made spaghetti for my family.
And tomorrow I have session zero for a new Obojima campaign I'm playing in. My character is a frog, belly brewer Barbarian who is a witch with no magic and a big appetite.

I unfortunately do not have Obojima, but that sounds like a simply marvelous character. I hope you have fun!

The one thing about D&D beyond that I wish were different is that most of the people here exclusively know D&D 5e, when I really, really want to try using other TTRPG systems but my irl friends don’t have the time to learn a new system.

He is that dude. I had to reign that character trait back a little because Obojima is a setting that focuses on exploration and role-play a lot more than combat so killing things will happen very rarely. So I can't hunt and kill most creatures I see.
I still am capable of eating anything that fits in my mouth which should be fun. My dude was raised by witches and learned potion making from them, but is a barbarian so he has no magic. He is in the world of witchery and knows a lot of their ways and lore, but is not bound by their laws and traditions.

Is there any reason why they are called Judges?
No, I was making a reference to Veggietales
