Howdy Arch! How are you doing this fine and feathery day?
Unfortunately, I’m not doing the best. I’m just… really stressed out about school, which I still have three more weeks of, and I had… a really bad nightmare.

I'm sorry man, all that really stinks. We are supposed to rest and heal when we sleep so it feels awful when that time is violated by our own minds. A word of encouragement from someone who is not currently in school at the moment: Life does continue no matter what happens. I was a school perfectionist who thought my future was over if I ever got anything below an A but no matter what happens in school, your life will continue on and things will be good. Just do your best.
I'm doing pretty good but there is a lot going on right now. Turns out moving to another country is hard work. Who would have thunk? And I have a few writing projects brewing in my brain but finding the time to work on them is hard.
Whats hardest about being a new country? I've always imagined the culture change would be isolating, which is why I'd move to Canada if I had to move (Something that gets more appealing all the time...)

was that an offensive joke? sorry!
I dont think its offensive I'm not sure I fully understand? Like the government will come after me and I'll be apologizing for not being on their side? I'm a bit confused

I think Dragon is making a joke about the popular stereotype that Canadians are always apologizing.

Oh, that makes more sense I think its okay to make jokes about groups of people as long as its lighthearted, its mostly offensive if its not true or its against a marginalized group of people. Example; saying New Yorkers are rude its fine, but saying Asians are bad drivers isn't. One group isn't marginalized, and there's truth to it, one is racist and not based on reality. Even if they're marginalized it can be okay, like the stereotype that queer people are theater kids, its not always true, but its kinda true, so if your an ally or a queer person its really not all that offensive to say

This is the story of Kenna Yoshida, a nerdy, anxious, emotionally repressed 16-year-old living in a (fictional) city by the California coast in 1985. (she was originally planned to be from san fransisco's japantown bc its cool but I don't know enough about san fransisco) She's pretty smart, and she's graduating from high school early. She's a big fan of sci-fi stuff and video games. Sure, living with her family and their expectations is suffocating, and she's not sure why, but she's moving away soon anyway, right?
But things take a turn for Kenna when one day, as she's riding her bike home from one of the last days of school, she gets hit by a drunk driver and is killed. But something strange (not sure what, possibly interdimensional in nature) interferes, and Kenna wakes up in the future(well, the future for her, it's modern day). She doesn't know she died, and she's still in her same city, so she assumes she might have hit her head or something and goes home. The door to her family's apartment is locked, but she assumes her mom just forgot to leave the door unlocked again, so she goes in through the window. Unfortunately for her, her parents don't live there anymore, and the apartment's current resident calls the police.
This is very stressful and confusing for Kenna because she doesn't have or want any sort of criminal record, and practically everything around her is different, and she doesn't know where her family is.
The police officer who questions her listens to her story and is also confused, because this girl couldn't possibly be from 40 years in the past, right? But she's inclined to believe her and also feels sorry for her, so she lets her stay at her apartment.
At first, things are simple. Kenna and the Officer fall into a routine, pretending to be aunt and niece. Kenna gets a job and helps around the house, and whatever. But then Kenna discovers that her jump into the future not only gave her strange powers(I have not yet decided what they do), but also caused some other weird and dangerous stuff to happen around the city.
So she steps up and takes on the superhero identity of Kendo, defending her city from the chaos she apparently caused. Said chaos includes a rotating cast of supernatural villains/creatures of various levels of nightmare-inducing, most of whom are targeting her specifically. Is she good at being a vigilante? Not really, most of what she does is try not to die and hope for the best. Is she doing her best? Yes. Did she name her alter ego after a sport? No comment. Her costume is pretty much just black streetwear and a kitsune mask she got from a costume shop.
There are several subplots, including Kenna trying to find out why and how this happened to her, and her struggling with the big gay feelings she never really realized she had.
If reading this gives you ideas or you have suggestions, i'd like to hear them!

Whats hardest about being a new country? I've always imagined the culture change would be isolating, which is why I'd move to Canada if I had to move (Something that gets more appealing all the time...)
This looks like it was in response to my post so I'll answer it.
I haven't actually moved yet, I meant it's hard to prepare to move. But I have lived in other countries in the past and I've heard a lot about it so I'll still answer the question. The isolation is definitely a big part of it. Everything is just slightly different and requires more thought and more change and so it's just all around tiring. I know someone who lived in Spain for a few years and having to communicate in Spanish all day everyday was so taxing she broke down in tears every night. Even if they speak the same language it can be difficult. It's like an American singing a song with people from the UK. The words might be the same but all of a sudden they are singing a different tune and your voice stands out jarringly. Everything looks familiar because it's mostly in the same language but things are definitely different in ways that can be jarring, painful, or embarrassing.
Not that you shouldn't move to other countries. People need to get out of their comfort zones, learn to laugh at themselves, and see folks who are different.

San Francisco is such a cool city. My grandfather grew up there.
fun fact, I’m fairly sure that San Francisco’s population has barely changed in the past 40 or so years. It’s just stayed at about 700,000.
That's because they are all immortal and eat anyone who tries to move to their city. It's how they stay immortal.
Can confirm.

‘Course!
None of the people in any of the top 10 big Californian cities (L.A., San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Et Cetera) are actually human. The San Franciscans, for example, are vampires. The fog lets them stay outside longer.

My titles are the great Silver Dragon Lord of the Sky, Second in Command of the Dragon Cult, High Warlock of Cynophobia, High Cultist of Jeff, The Lightning Mage. I’m a ✨Chronically online teenage boy✨, and one of the most active posters on the forums (MORE THAN SALEM AND GONZALO). Always open to talk if you’d like to shoot me a PM! Please don’t hesitate to tell me I’m being a jerk or overbearing, I love helpful feedback! Love y’all!
